Letter to the editor: Herb Kohl had no experience either

Posted

To the editor,

Citizens are looking for better representation in Congress. In the WI-3rd CD Derrick Van Orden has embarrassed us just too many times. He has exceeded his ration of inappropriate incidents.

Fortunately, there are three more candidates with a variety of experiences that could clearly do the job without embarrassing us. Erik Wilson has proposed a number of policies to improve our health care system. Katrina
Shankland has an impressive legislative track record and has relied on that as her key feature in her congressional run.

Rebecca Cooke has a broader range of life experiences, growing up on a dairy farm, running small businesses, starting and operating a non-profit that gives grants to women seeking to start their own businesses. Gov. Evers appointed her to the WI Economic Development Corp. She has earned the support of 5 members of Congress, 25 small business owners, and 11 labor unions and other national community organizations. Cooke’s fundraising ability has allowed her to get a jump start on the November general election advertising that calls out the incumbent for his insults and offensives.

The only serious criticism of Cooke so far is that she has no legislative experience. Let’s remember that neither Herb Kohl nor our own Ron Kind had legislative experience when they began their career in Congress. She is
bright, hardworking and has the moxie to be a leader in Congress. I urge your support for her.
