Letter to the editor: Van Orden gives veterans a voice

Posted

To the editor,

I’m the son of two United States Army veterans, and I’m proud of my family’s rich military history.

I’m also proud to be represented by Congressman Derrick Van Orden - someone who understands and cares about veterans issues as much as my family does. Our veterans and military families deserve a strong voice in Congress, and I’m proud to report Congressman Van Orden has been that voice.

His bipartisan work on the Veterans Affairs Committee is much appreciated. Congressman Van Orden has demonstrated his steadfast commitment towards expanding education opportunities for veterans, introducing the Ensuring Military Access to High Education Benefits Act, the MGIB-SR Tuition Fairness Act, and the Veterans Education Transparency and Training Act - all fantastic pieces of legislation ensuring Veterans receive the education benefits they deserve.

In addition to championing Veterans education, Congressman Van Orden has led efforts to hold the Veterans Affairs Administration accountable. He introduced the TRAIN VA Employees Act, which requires the VA to develop a training program for management personnel. Thanks to the Congressman’s leadership, the VA can have an effective template to train their managers, resulting in better care for veterans.

I’m proud that my US Representative and former Navy SEAL, Congressman Derrick Van Orden, is putting aside partisan politics to deliver for Veterans. He’s rolled up his sleeves to ensure our Service Men and Women are looked out for. I greatly appreciate his unwavering support for America’s warriors, and I wish him the best going forward! Thank you, Derrick!
