Letter to the editor: A time for voices, not echoes

To the editor,

With spring elections only weeks away, we have choices at the polls, starting at the local, school board and county board levels.

It’s disappointing to see so many county board members that are merely an echo for what the leadership wants. At times they seem to have no voice of their own at all but would rather just be an echo on everything from Covid masking orders to the new Judicial Center.

This election there are many new candidates who say, “enough is enough” and will stand against the tide and raise their voices for what their constituents want not just to echo a feeble “Yes” when called upon.

Shelia Fischer, who is running for the Pierce County Board from Trimbelle Township, is one such person. She will be a loud voice for common sense and reason on the Pierce County Board.

With Shelia on the county board, we will have a representative sharing our views and speaking for us with her own voice on all the issues.

It is time to replace all the county board “echoes” that should be standing for us and us with new, strong, clear new voices.
