To the editor,
In last week’s edition, a letter writer asked “Why is Biden unwilling to secure the southern border?”
As it turns out, it is the Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson and opposition from Trump that is preventing workable and tougher immigration and asylum laws from getting the GOP support needed to pass the Senate and House. The reason plain and simple is Trump needs the immigration problem as a means to make the president look bad, and therefore, vulnerable.
This measure has passed bipartisan Senate negotiators and will be voted on soon. We’ll see how many Republicans support it.
The US economy grew faster than all other advanced economies last year by a great number: US – 2/1%, Canada – 1.4%, France – 1.0%, Japan - .9 % and so on. 353,000 jobs were added last quarter. What part of President Biden’s success as our leader do you not understand?
Actually, referring to the above mentioned letter in last week’s edition, insert Trump’s name instead of Biden’s, and it all makes perfect sense.
