To the editor,
Derrick Van Orden voted for the 2025 tax bill that has been called One Big Beautiful Bill (H.R. 1), but should be called the Big Billionaire Bill, which makes a permanent $1 trillion cut in Medicaid health programs for people who are not billionaires or millionaires.
Mr. Van Orden says he’ll replace that cut with a temporary Act which might make up 37% of the trillion.
Ask Medicaid recipients or your doctor, if a 63% reduction in payments works well for them. Ask your clinic and hospital if a 63%reduction in payments will be enough to retain staff and keep the doors open for our communities.
If you are able to reach Mr. Van Orden, ask him how his friends and family members would function with a 63% increase in their medical expenses?
We deserve better.
This Nov. 3, vote to end Van Orden’s time in office.
