To the editor,

According to the so-called climate scientists the Antarctic has lost about 149 billion metric tons of ice per year for the last 25 years. That sounds like a lot of melted ice but you probably would need to be a PhD in Geology to understand that. How much did all that ice melt raise the ocean levels?

For those of us who have spent the last  30 years vacationing in Fort Myers , I can tell you that I have seen the cataclysmic result of that melted ice first hand – that's right, all five millimeters! You can imagine what this kind of sea level rise will mean in the year 2525. If man is still alive, he may find that if this sea level rise is uninterrupted by periods of global cooling and the Antarctic doesn't run out of ice the total rise could be as massive as three inches. Oh, the humanity!

As someone who was an aspiring meteorologist in the early 70's I had to suffer through my undergraduate years with the non-stop global cooling indoctrination. Since my mother neglected to throw away all my class notes from those years, I still have them. If someone happened to read those notes today they would be asking themselves how is it possible for all those PhD types to have been so ignorant? Their ignorance was the result of two things. The first is that as someone works their way up the educational ladder they become more focused on a single area of expertise which results in a one-dimensional view that leads to great tunnel vision but a poor view of the big picture. The second is that their vision of the world is compromised by being subjected to the boot of the ultra-far left ideology being on their neck. Being controlled by the far left has resulted in an inverse relationship between education and intelligence!

As everyone knows, the overlords of the far left propaganda decided to flip the script in the 1980's from global cooling to global warming. That was easy to do with such spineless subjects. They just made one big mistake when they flipped the script. They decided the cause of global warming was the same as global cooling. For the first time in recorded history two problems 180 degrees apart would need the same solution – too much carbon dioxide. How convenient!

According to so-called climate scientists, the United States is currently emitting about six billion tons of CO2 each year. Worldwide this is around 34 billion tons. Fortunately, the world has a lot of carbon dioxide customers called trees. These same climate scientists say that it would take 200 billion trees to offset the carbon produced by the United States. The good news is that the world has an estimated three trillion trees. Even someone with a PhD in Geology who may be lacking in perspicacity should be able to do the math. They also say that grasslands absorb .5 gigatons of CO2 per year. Plant life around the world, not including trees, absorbs another 5.5 billion tons of CO2. The CO2 absorbed by all the lawns in the world has not been calculated. Of course, the oceans alone absorb nearly one-third of all the CO2 emitted each year. It appears that the demand for CO2 may exceed the supply!

The cautionary tale here is be careful where you get your information. One option is from a far-left ideologue who needs to wear his education on his sleeve; the other is from someone with a PhD in common sense.
