To the editor,
Fall is in the air, along with the beauty comes swarms of Asian Beetles, Box Elder Bugs, and… semi tankers full of liquid manure. All three are annoying, the third is dangerous.
One after the other, the onslaught is unending, the smell, the constant noise, the dangerous traffic that they cause, the destruction of our fragile rural roads, the danger to our ground and surface water, the diminished property values.
They would have us believe that this is the way of the future. What it really is, is a path to our destruction, on a local, state and national level. Without drinkable water (that we can afford), and clean air that we breathe, we cannot survive.
In the last spreading season, we citizens noticed numerous incidents of dangerous driving, manure spills, and destruction to roads not designed or permitted to such traffic. We are aware that local law enforcement cannot be everywhere.
So, I ask my fellow citizens take the time to document and report things that they witness that concern them. Things like reckless driving, no license plates, driving while texting, etc.
