To the editor,
We read and hear so much negativity these days. It was so refreshing to hear how Hudson and River Falls High Schools recently joined together to sponsor two community events in the Oct. 3 Star-Observer and Oct. 2 Pierce County Journal.
The two bands hosted Rhythm By the River which included Marching Field Show competition of schools from Wisconsin and Minnesota. The two hosting schools performed that day but did not compete in the
competition. It takes a lot of people working together to make it a quality competition and wonderful experience for all.
The second article was about the girls volleyball teams pulling together and sponsoring the “Pass Set Attack Cancer” event. On game night when the schools played each other, they joined together to raise money to support the Rhino Foundation, a local non-profit organization providing funds to families in northwestern Wisconsin dealing with cancer. The organization has financially helped many people during their struggles with cancer.
These stories were uplifting and positive. What a great way for two communities to work for the greater good of showing sportsmanship, compassion and unity amongst people. I applaud the band directors,
volleyball coaches, parents and students for their exemplary commitment to show others what wonderful things can be done and accomplished when we work together.
