With the city election complete and Alderperson Gerke now becoming Mayor Gerke, an opening needs to be filled on council. Who should this new person be?
Should it be someone who showed interest and had contacted the city multiple times with no response? Of course not! It should be whomever the City Administrator "recommends" on behalf of "city staff" as said in the April 21 workshop meeting.
One of the jobs of an alderperson it to oversee city staff, including the City Administrator Matt Wolf. Isn't this a little like a prisoner hand-picking the prison guards? Same ol' same ol' with the new administration!
