Letter to the editor: Party loyalty has NOTHING to do with how I vote

To the editor,

I usually read the Letters to the Editor, shrug my shoulders at some of the claims and inconsistencies, and move on. Today, however, I take serious issue with two letters in the July 17 Pierce County Journal, one by Tammy Tollefson, the other by Carmen Drake. I can no longer keep quiet.

Why vote for a convicted felon? My question to you is, “Why vote for someone who is clearly suffering from DEMENTIA?” Anyone watching the debate on June 27 can see Biden is not “all there.” Is this really who we want running our country? The excuse for his pathetic debate performance was “not getting enough sleep.” Where will he be when we really need him? Napping? His numerous other “public blunders”, i.e., calling the Ukraine President “Putin,” referring to Kamala Harris as “President,” mixing up “Iranian and Ukrainian” and talking about Trump as his VP – not to mention the Afghanistan debacle (the loss of 13 American military personnel) and putting Trump in a “bulls-eye” just days before the assassination attempt on July 13 are ridiculous! The Democrat “Powers that Be” in Washington have known for years that Biden is failing, but keep trying to convince and deceive the public by saying everything is fine with Biden. Talk about hypocrisy!

The Prosecuting Attorney in the Trump trial changed the status of the charges from a misdemeanor to a felony; he should not have been permitted to do that. The Judge in the case should have recused himself, but instead demonstrated partiality. He is an active supporter of President Biden and his daughter is employed with a fundraising company which supports Biden. Trump’s conviction will be overturned on appeal.

The other letter spoke about guaranteed freedoms and party loyalty. I am practicing my free speech by writing this letter. Party loyalty has NOTHING to do with how I vote. I vote for LESS government, more independence and freedom while retaining Second Amendment rights (which help secure our other rights), and securing the borders – no matter the party affiliation.

I do not support abortion. Doesn’t it make sense to practice more personal responsibility by not getting pregnant in the first place and then opting for abortion to get rid of the problem? What about the baby’s rights? The baby feels excruciating pain during the abortion as its body is ripped apart. The leading cause of childhood death in the US is not gun violence. It’s ABORTION!

A good way to pass on a decent America to our children and grandchildren would be to stop the influx of illegal immigrants. I wonder how many the government employs to deal with and keep track of them? Overcrowding of our schools with non-English speaking children takes attention away from US children. We should give our kids a sense of pride in the country. The agenda of gender identity being pushed in some schools is not biological science, it is psychological.

We have a Fentanyl crisis, most of which comes across the Mexican border. The state of Texas reports spending $807 million annually for uncompensated health care and emergency Medicaid for unauthorized migrants.

Joe Biden boasts of having taken more executive actions against our Second Amendment rights than any other president. Kamala Harris continues to fabricate lies stating gun show dealers or flea market gun dealers are not required to conduct background checks. Yes, they are!

I really don’t care if a 10-year-old thinks someone is a bully. When you’re in charge, being tough is a necessity. Parents should understand that. We can’t always worry about someone’s “feelings.” The Constitution needs to be reread, not rewritten.
