To the editor,
Today, I am writing to express my strong support for the Ellsworth Hearts and Minds Ukraine school supply project: a project aimed at providing school supplies to children during the ongoing conflict.
Ellsworth High School has contacted two schools in Ukraine that help serve over 900 students from ages 3-17. We are lucky here in Ellsworth to have the right to get an education without the constant fear of war in our minds. Schools are not just buildings that support education; they provide structure in times of need and are safe havens for all. The safety we want the children of Ukraine to feel in these trying times. You can support this project by donating school supplies, monetary donations, and comfort items. Even sharing this information with other communities online and through word of mouth can help to restore some normalcy to these children.
Helping foster others’ right to an education is our message. Ellsworth High School will always stand beside education as a fundamental right to all.
We urge our community to assist in supporting the children of Ukraine in any way possible. With the help of our community, we will make a meaningful difference in the lives of countless children and offer hope for a brighter tomorrow.
