To the editor,

I’ve been living and raising my family in River Falls since 1984. I truly love our community and country.
Our democracy is in crisis; our freedoms are at stake. Our children’s and families’ futures are in our hands. I believe strongly that we can no longer be silent; we must take action now. 
We’re NOT fighting over policy or partisan politics; we’re fighting over whether we’re going to be a civilization rooted in empathy and kindness—or one rooted in cruelty, rage, and hate.
We are in a dangerous moment for American democracy. We’re living in the unchecked power of one unhinged man whose actions only benefit him and his allies.
Donald Trump alone started this war with Iran. A war that could easily escalate into a global catastrophe. A war costing taxpayers billions each day. A war many of our extraordinary military may not come home from.
President Trump knows he will lose the majority in our next midterm election, leading to his impeachment. He will stop at nothing to prevent this. I don't say this lightly. I say it because we must act with the urgency this moment demands.
The Republican leadership has failed us. They chose to give their power over to President Trump against their oath to uphold the Constitution.
We all believe free and fair elections are guaranteed. But make no mistake, this administration will do anything and everything in their power to win!
We can and will take action by building a powerful pro-democracy movement that cannot be ignored. We will band together with courage and conviction to save our community, democracy, and our country. There is a rainbow beyond this storm!
Elections matter now more than ever. Your local, state, and federal elections will determine if our votes are so lopsided there can be no questions!
We are pitted against corrupt moneyed super PACs who do not follow the rules. Please get involved and VOTE blue!
Now is the moment for us all to do our part; this is how our democracy survives. I remain hopeful, determined, and energized. Hopefully, you will too!
