To the editor,
Response to Dave Anderson regarding Republicans cutting Medicaid.
It feels important now more than ever to ensure accurate information regarding our governing system. I wanted to point out a major flaw I noticed in a letter that appeared last week.
I believe the bill that Dave Anderson was referencing is the congressional budget bill. He asked that someone do a word search for "Medicaid." He is correct you will not find that word. The reason is Medicaid is paid for by the Energy and Commerce Committee. I wanted to point out that it in fact includes a cut of $880 billion over the course of roughly nine years for the Energy and Commerce Committee. While you can cut some from this committee without touching Medicaid or Medicare, the lion's share of the spending is in those two programs.
It is important to give accurate information. I hope this helps.
As Dave noted, Derrick Van Orden voted in favor of this budget.
