Letter to the editor: Root causes

To the editor,

While many people are running around with their hair on fire trying to understand why Hamas would commit war crimes; they fail to research the root causes of this current disaster.

Like all unexplained political or social upheavals just remember to follow the money. In 2015 Barack Obama was so worked up in a lather to get his “Iran Deal” he coerced other countries to join in his plan to help create upwards of $150 billion in sanctions relief for Iran. This was aside from the nearly $2 billion in cash Obama shipped to Iran.

Fast forward to 2021, Joe Biden eliminated the sanctions on Iranian oil sales that Donald Trump had put in place to squeeze Iran's ability to fund terrorism. This enabled Iran to quadruple their oil sales revenue to nearly $80 billion. Then in 2023, Biden planned on giving Iran another $6 billion in ransom money.  That money is supposedly on hold? It is almost like Barack Obama is still trying to fund the world's biggest sponsor of terrorism!

How do administrations come up with these insane appeasement ideas with terrorists without being questioned by some staff member with a little smarts? As most people are now aware both the Obama and Biden administrations were in the habit of appointing “dumb little kids” to high ranking positions. These pajama boys and girls were too terrified to question what was happening or what the negative impact of the decisions might be. Appointing people who are long on diversity and short on competence seldom produces a positive outcome.

In a just world, the $6 billion Biden was about to release to Iran should be redirected to Israel to help pay for all the damage done by the Iranian funded Hamas terrorists. The world’s number one sponsor of terrorism should forfeit any and all money that is currently being withheld from them.

How Obama and Biden should be viewed by the world for their role in this disaster may become clearer depending on how horrific this disaster becomes. As bad as this situation is for Israel, it is even worse for the good Palestinian people who are being held hostage by Hamas. Obama and Biden should have thought through the unintended consequences of funding the world’s number one sponsor of terrorism because now they are responsible for both Israeli and Palestinian deaths.
