Letter to the editor: Stores that infringe

To the editor,

I am extremely delighted that Kwik Trip has opened a store in Ellsworth. It has expanded my shopping choices in between a planned major shopping spree. Their business model is superb and superior to other gas stations.

The next store is Family Dollar. You see, Steve Hincks sold his store to Nilssen's which is a well-established brand. I shopped there until in the summer of 2025, nine years, I was told I couldn't anymore, because I was exercising my second amendment. Suddenly I was frightening employees and customers, mainly employees after nine years. I don't know what changed except that as I age, I began to look like one of those people who are associated with the Twin Tower terrorists. My opinion subject to correction. Mr.  Nilssen called me himself and told me I couldn't carry in his store and he wasn't going to post a sign saying: No Guns Allowed. Same story at River Falls Aldi. The manager at Nilssen's, his son, first said to conceal my weapon but in a wink changed his mind and said leave it in the car.

We still have choices; thank you Ptacek’s, Family Fresh, County Market and Hudson Co-op, Kwik Trip, Family Dollar and many other stores for letting me shop at your stores.
