To the editor,
I am a member of the of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 121, River Falls. May is a very busy month for the Legion Family. During the month we strive to keep the memory of our fallen veterans alive by promoting the red poppy flower that symbolizes the sacrifice these men and women made in our conflicts and wars.
To all the American Legion, Auxiliary, SAL and community members who worked tirelessly to make our Memorial Day a wonderful and inspirational event. To those who cleaned the inside and outside of the Legion building and decorated, it looked beautiful. Our members who purchased, prepared, and served the delicious food after the Memorial Day service. Family Fresh, Ptacek’s, and Ace Hardware who opened their doors for us to distribute the poppies at their establishments, gave us discounts, food and donations for our veterans. To our merchants who allow our poppy donation cans to be displayed in the stores. The second-grade students from Greenwood Elementary, St. Bridget's, Montessori, Westside and Rocky Branch schools for the patriotic pages they color each year that are displayed at our Main Street businesses. Our Legion Commander, Auxiliary President, Honor Guard and High School Band for the beautiful Memorial Day ceremony at Greenwood Cemetery. Last but not least, to the people of our community and surrounding areas who donated so generously to help support our veterans. Our Legion Family is honored to be a part of such a wonderful community. Your support shows that we are people who truly care. THANK YOU!
