To the editor,
I’m very disappointed in the Democrats’ willingness to fearmonger senior citizens, veterans, and everyday citizens.
Without evidence, desperate politicians continue to say Republicans are going to cut social security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other essential programs. This is a repeated lie that nobody should believe.
Congressman Derrick Van Orden and President Trump campaigned on protecting programs like social security. In fact, Congressman Van Orden helped pass the Social Security Fairness Act into law. This bill repeals provisions that reduce social security benefits for individuals who receive other benefits, like a pension from state or local government. He is keeping his promise by strengthening social security.
In regard to Medicaid, Democrats claim Republicans want to cut Medicaid. Nowhere in the recent budget resolution will you find the word “Medicaid.” Go ahead, do a word search - you won’t find it. Anyone lawfully receiving these benefits will continue to receive them, plain and simple.
Again, these lies are meant to scare the living daylights out of people. These lies have been repeated in the past several election cycles. They never become true. So, since the same people are spreading the same lies, we should stop taking them seriously. Thank you, Congressman Van Orden and President Trump, for protecting our benefits.
