Light up the Ballfield at Our Savior’s

BELDENVILLE – Our Savior’s Lutheran Church wants to light up their ballpark for the holidays, but your help is needed.

People can purchase a light in honor of or in memory of a loved one for $10. The money raised will go toward some unforeseen expenses at the ballpark concession stand expansion. The ballpark, located off County Road N in Beldenville, is used for summer league church softball by area congregations.

“They finished the excavation this week and we can now start finishing the inside,” said fundraiser co-organizer Donna Constant.

The plan is to put lights on the ballpark fence and light up the park.

“It’s a nice way to pay tribute to those who have gone before us and those who are still here,” Constant said. “We will use white for those who are passed and blue for those who are still with us.”

Constant plans to debut the lights at dusk Friday, Nov. 25. Make sure to drive by to see them lit up along the road.

“I’ve bought lots of lightbulbs hoping that we can do lots of lights,” Constant said.

The lights will be ablaze through the 12 Days of Christmas into January. They will light up at dusk every night and go off at 11 p.m.

“This is another way we as a community we are utilizing the park,” Constant said. “I probably bought way too many because I’m a thinker and a dreamer. You have to start someplace and build on it.”

The excavation costs for the well, septic and plumbing cost between $3,000 and $3,500. The concession stand and bathrooms have been spray-foamed, insulated and wired.

“Next year is going to be an amazing season,” Constant said. “Just to have running water and a real bathroom! It’s the simple little things like that that we take for granted every day.

Those wishing to purchase a light should visit the church’s website: oursaviorschurch.info and follow the link. The church is also selling ballpark sweatshirts, designed by Brushstrokes, as a fundraiser for the ballpark project.
