EL PASO – A Spring Valley man was arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle under the influence (first ouense) after driving through a road closed barricade at the El Paso Days parade Sunday.
According to a media release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Wisconsin State Patrol Northwest Region Eau Claire Post, on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022, around 3:21 p.m. a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper responded to the location at County Road N and 640th Avenue where citizens had detained the driver until police arrived.
The man, identified as Robert Brodersen, 83, struck a road closed sign, which got stuck on the bottom of his vehicle. The parade was in progress and the streets lined with people when he drove onto the parade route. Citizens asked Brodersen to get out of the car and took his keys until police arrived.
The media release from WisDOT says the trooper saw signs of impairment and investigation, including stan- dardized field sobriety tests, showed that Brodersen was suspected of operating the motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxi cant.
Brodersen was arrested and taken to the Pierce County Jail.
