Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 11:17 p.m. Aug. 15 on County Road DD one-quarter mile south of 450th Avenue in the town of Ellsworth between a 1999 Chevrolet GMT, driven by Ethan George King,
17, Beldenville, and a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Hunter Steven Herem,
18, Beldenville. Herem was heading south on County Road DD, while King was heading north. Herem collided with King, who came to rest against a tree in the east ditch. Herem came to rest in the middle of the road facing northeast. Both drivers said they swerved to miss a deer. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. King, Herem and Herem’s passenger, Aiden Marlowe Murphy, 16, Ellsworth, wore seat belts. King and Herem reported no injuries, while Murphy reported possible injuries but was not transported to the hospital.
Officers responded to a one-vehicle crash at 12:12 p.m. Aug. 18 at W8398 770th Ave. in the town of River Falls. A 2022 Subaru Outback, driven by Natalie Jean Thompson, 62, River Falls, was heading west on 770th Avenue around a left-hand curve. She entered the north shoulder and struck a mailbox, coming to rest down the road partially on a steep ditch facing west. Thompson said she had looked at her GPS on her phone before striking the mailbox. She reported a minor cut from broken glass but no other injuries. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash at 5:14 p.m. Aug. 18 near N7279 County Road F in the town of Clifton. A 2012 Toyota Corolla, driven by Benjamin Lee Pike, 43, Hudson, was traveling northbound on County Road F. A witness saw Pike cross the center line, enter the west ditch and strike a tree before coming to a rest. Pike, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated, told the witness that he couldn’t get in trouble due to it being a felony OWI. Pike then drove through the ditch and got back onto the road. St. Croix County located Pike and stopped his vehicle. Pike told police he left the scene because he wanted to make it home. The vehicle had functional damage and Pike reported no injuries. He was cited for failure of operator to notify police of accident, failure to keep vehicle under control and operating left of center.
Officers responded to a vehicle vs. tree crash at 11:52 p.m. Aug. 18 on County Road CC just south of 690th Avenue in the town of Gilman. A 2013 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Ashley Marie Pickering, 19, Arkansaw, was traveling south on County Road CC when it struck the downed tree. Pickering said she didn’t see the tree blocking both traffic lanes. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Pickering, who wore a seat blet, reported no injuries.
Police responded to a one-vehicle crash at 4:40 p.m. Aug. 19 on Highway 128 one-third mile north of 770th Avenue in the town of Spring Lake. A 2014 Ford F150 utility truck, driven by Fortino Ulloa Villarreal, 28, Plum City, was traveling south on Highway 128 when it hit the west shoulder. Villarreal lost control and entered the west ditch, rolled over and came to rest on the driver’s side. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Villarreal and passenger Jhonatan Alvapadot, 23, Plum City, reported no injuries. Villarreal was cited for operate without valid license.
Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at 11:57 a.m. Aug. 20 at Highway 35 and Wabash Street/County Road EE in Bay City between a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle, operated by Gregg Allen Pattison, 60, Neenah, and a 2018 Nissan Versa, driven by
Lillian Joan Gomez, 22, St. Paul. Pattison was traveling south on County Road EE, while Gomez was heading south on Highway 35. Pattison struck Gomez as he was crossing Highway 35. He had a stop sign and Gomez had the right-of-way. Pattison, who wore a helmet, reported no injuries. The motorcycle had minor damage. Gomez and passenger Vincent Lee Wheat, 22, St. Paul, both wore seat belts and reported no injuries. The Nissan had functional damage.
Police responded to a hit-and-run crash at 12:13 a.m. Aug. 23 on Highway 35 one-quarter mile east of Wabash Street in Bay City. A Honda Civic heading southbound on Highway 35 left the road, went into the south ditch, skidded and struck a guardrail. The vehicle fled the scene.
Officers responded to a one-vehicle rollover at 10:04 a.m. Aug. 23 on Highway 65 just south of County Road J in the town of Ellsworth. A 2007 Chrysler, driven by Savanna Adora George,
25, Ellsworth, was traveling north on Highway 65 descending a hill and negotiating curves when, according to George, she tried to get a bee out of her car. The passenger side tires hit the gravel shoulder on the right side, causing George to over-correct. She swerved across the highway, entered the west ditch, partially overturned and hit a tree. The vehicle landed on its passenger side facing south. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. George, who wore a seat belt, had suspected minor injuries but wasn’t transported to the hospital.
Police responded to a vehicle vs. tractor crash at 3:51 p.m. Aug. 23 at US Highway 63 and 730th Avenue in the town of Martell. A John Deere 7920 tractor (with a front mower and rear-wing mower), operated by Steven Harvey Freund,
31, Hager City, was traveling southbound on US Highway 63, had signaled and began a left-hand turn onto 730th Avenue. A 2009 Ford Fusion, driven by Kareena Jazzmine Marie Hakes, 27, Menomonie, was traveling behind Freund. Hakes began to pass Freund on the left side, hitting the tractor as it was turning. The tractor’s flashers and blinkers were visible from the rear. The tractor had minor damage, while Hakes’ vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Freund, Hakes and her passengers, Antonio David O’Brien, 26, Menomonie, and a 6-year-old child, all wore seat belts and reported no injuries. Hakes was cited for violation of child safety restraint – child 4 years but less than 8 years.
Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash at 12:55 a.m. Aug. 25 on US Highway 10 just north of County Road E in the town of Oak Grove. A 2018 Toyota Rav4, driven by Laura Marie Davis, 40, Albert Lea, Minn., was traveling east on Highway 10 when it crossed the center line, went off the road and struck a traffic sign post and guardrail end. The vehicle rolled over once it hit the ditch and landed right-side up facing east. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Davis, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries. She was cited for operating left of center and failure to keep vehicle under control.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 7:25 p.m. Aug. 25 at highways 63 and 35 in the town of Trenton between a 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia, driven by Markayia Christeena Meyer, 26, Ellsworth, and a 2018 Toyota Camry, driven by Alex Laurence Rekstein,
27, Richfield, Minn. Both vehicles were stopped at the four-way stop. Meyer was northbound on Highway 63 in Lane 2, with a large truck to her left blocking her view. The truck started to go forward and she thought she was okay to go too. Rekstein was going south on Highway 35. He started to cross the intersection and both vehicles collided. Meyer continued through the intersection and struck a stop sign, breaking it off. Rekstein was able to drive his vehicle to the side of the road. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. Both drivers wore seat belts and reported no injuries.
