Police responded at 12:40 p.m. July 14 to a two-vehicle crash at 1003 First St/County Road S in Plum City. A 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Travis John Perkovich,
41, Arkansaw, was pulling into the parking lot off First Street while a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Bonnie Marie Hutter, 60, Eau Galle, was backing up from a parking stall. Hutter didn’t see Perkovich pull into the parking lot and backed into him. Both vehicles had minor damage. Hutter, Perkovich and his three passengers, Josette J. Perkovich, 40, Arkansaw; Summer L. Preston, 19, Durand; and Tyler James Perkovich, 22, Durand, all wore seat belts and reported no injuries.
Officers responded at 1:15 p.m. July 15 to a one-vehicle crash on US Highway 10 just west of 10th Street in the town of Union. A 2014 Ford MME convertible, driven by David Allen Knutson, 67, Balsam Lake, was traveling eastbound on Highway 10 when Knutson began having a medical issue. The car left the roadway, entered the south ditch, hit a mailbox and a “right land ends” sign, re-entered the roadway and crossed over the highway. It then entered the north ditch before swerving back onto and across Highway 10 where it entered a soybean field on the south side, vaulted over 10th Street in Pepin County, then entered a large corn field and made loops through the field before coming to rest in the middle of the field. The operator told bystanders that he is diabetic and had low blood sugar. A witness said prior to the crash, the vehicle almost hit a loaded dump truck and another vehicle on Highway 10. The vehicle was towed and had functional damage. Knutson wore a seat belt and reported no injuries. The property affected belongs to Joseph Charles Gilles, Arkansaw, and Norbert Gary Kannel,
Arkansaw.
Deputies responded at 8:41 p.m. July 16 to an ATV crash on private land in the Town of Trimbelle. A juvenile was operating a 2004 Polaris 500 when they made a sharp left turn near a small hill and fell from the ATV, which rolled over the juvenile and continued to roll away, coming to rest in a field. An ambulance transported the juvenile to the hospital with suspected head injuries. The ATV had minor damage.
Police were called at 10:51 a.m. July 24 to a deer vs. motorcycle crash on County Road O just north of 430th Avenue in the town of Trimbelle. A 2009 Harley Davidson XR1200, operated by Jonathan Tad Hendrickson,
53, Lake Elmo, Minn., was traveling south on County Road O when a deer jumped out in the road. Hendrickson lost control and entered the east ditch. Police later found deer hair on the bike, confirming he hit the deer. The motorcycle had minor damage. An ambulance transported Hendrickson, who wore a full face helmet, to a Minnesota hospital with suspected minor injuries.
Deputies responded at 1:14 p.m. July 24 to a hit and run crash on County Road E one-third mile north of 530th Avenue in the town of Oak Grove. An unknown maroon utility pickup truck was traveling southbound and failed to negotiate a curve. It entered the southbound ditch, struck a traffic sign post and a fence. The vehicle continued southbound, crossed back through the fence, re-entered the roadway and fled the scene. The fence stands on property owned by Eugene J. Schommer Jr., Prescott.
