Initial appearances

A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of Alexander Scott Baillargeon, 31, Elmwood, who missed a Feb. 11 initial appearance on an operate without valid license (second within three years) charge.

Samantha Kay Gregory, 37, Spring Valley, posted a $5,000 signature bond Feb. 11 on felony bail jumping, retail theft – intentionally take and operating while revoked (alcohol related) charges. A preliminary hearing is slated for 3 p.m. March 31.

Arturo Huerta Reyes, 52, Ellsworth, pleaded not guilty and posted a $500 signature bond Feb. 11 on an operate without valid license (second within three years) charge. A status conference is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. April 8.

Kelly Lee Retterath, 57, Plum City, pleaded not guilty and posted a $1,000 signature bond Feb. 11 on operating while revoked (alcohol related) and ignition interlock device tampering/failure to install/violate court order charges. A status conference is slated for 11:15 a.m. March 16.

Deferred case

Calvin Joseph Meerkins, 41, Hager City, was convicted of possession of cocaine/coca (as party to a crime) Feb. 17, sentenced to two years of probation, fined $443 and ordered to pay $12.84 in restitution. He pleaded guilty to a felony maintain drug trafficking place (as party to a crime) charge and entered into a three-year deferred judgment of conviction agreement. Felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance, theft – movable property, possession of THC, possess drug paraphernalia and possess amphetamine/LSD/psilocin charges (all with the as party to a crime modifier) were dismissed. The charges stemmed from incidents Jan. 2 and Jan. 6, 2025.

Closed cases

Bjorn Joseph Freeberg, 21, Williston, ND, was convicted of disorderly conduct and fined $277.80 Feb. 17. The charge resulted from a Jan. 31, 2025 incident.

A contribute/delinquency child charge against Isaac Paul Johanson, 20, River Falls, was dismissed Feb. 17 upon completion of a deferred judgment of conviction agreement. The charge stemmed from a Sept. 8, 2024 incident.

Joseph Michael Kobilka, 48, Prescott, was convicted of felony OWI-fifth/sixth Feb. 17, sentenced to 1.5 years in prison and three years of extended supervision, fined $,1919 and ordered to install an ignition interlock device after a 36-month driver’s license revocation. A felony operating with PAC-fifth/sixth charge was dismissed. The charges resulted from a Sept. 26, 2023 incident.

Calvin Joseph Meerkins, 41, Hager City, was convicted of receiving or concealing stolen property (as party to a crime) and theft – movable property (as party to a crime) Feb. 17, sentenced to two years of prowqbation and fined $886. The charges stemmed from incidents Dec. 28, 2024 and Jan. 2, 2025.

A disorderly conduct charge against Justyn Ferris Oakgrove, 24, Minneapolis, was dismissed Feb. 17 upon completion of a deferred judgment of conviction agreement. The charge resulted from a Dec. 4, 2024 incident.

James Steven Todd, 47, River Falls, was convicted of disorderly conduct Feb. 17 and fined $443. The charge stemmed from a July 12 incident.
