Initial appearances

Kendrick Michael Bateman, 20, River Falls, pleaded not guilty and posted a $500 signature bond April 28 on two fail/obtain deer hunting required approval charges. A status conference is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. May 29.

Kyle M. Brown, 45, Ellsworth, was ordered to pay $1,000 cash bond April 28 on felony strangulation and suffocation (domestic abuse), battery (domestic abuse), criminal damage to property (domestic abuse), battery and disorderly conduct charges. A status conference is slated for 3 p.m. June 3.

Zander Harold Egan, 19, Sherwood, pleaded not guilty and was ordered to pay $250 cash bond April 28 on battery, intimidate victim/dissuade reporting and disorderly conduct charges. A status conference is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 30.

Lonnie M. Huppert, 55, Ellsworth, pleaded not guilty and posted a $2,500 signature bond April 28 on ATV or UTV – cause injury/while intoxicated and ATV or UTV – cause injury with PAC .08+ charges. A status conference is set for 10:45 a.m. June 10.

A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of Grace Lauren Juhl, 18, River Falls, who missed an April 28 initial appearance on misdemeanor bail jumping, possession of THC and possession of controlled substance charges.

James Darwin Henry Lange, 28, Spring Valley, posted a $10,000 signature bond April 28 on felony neglecting a child (no harm and child < 6 or disability), neglecting a child (specified harm did not occur) and disorderly conduct (domestic abuse – infliction of pain or injury) charges. A status conference is set for 10 a.m. May 29.

Christina Lynn Lay, 38, River Falls, pleaded not guilty and posted a $2,000 signature bond April 28 on two disorderly conduct (domestic abuse) charges. A status conference is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. June 3.

Leticia Schemmel, 25, River Falls, pleaded not guilty and posted a $500 signature bond April 28 on an operating while revoked (alcohol related) charge. A status conference is set for 2:45 p.m. May 28.

Gregory M. Schommer, 54, Prescott, posted a $5,000 signature bond April 28 on a felony OWI-fifth/sixth charge. A status conference is slated for 10:45 a.m. May 29.

Charles Edward Young II, 36, River Falls, pleaded not guilty and posted a $500 signature bond April 28 on an operating while revoked (alcohol related) charge. A status conference is set for 10:30 a.m. May 29.

Closed cases

Kaiden Alexander Carlson, 30, Winona, Minn., was convicted of criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct April 28, sentenced to one year’s probation and fined $886. Felony bail jumping and battery charges were dismissed. A criminal damage to property charge was read in but dismissed. The charges stemmed from a Nov. 2 incident.

A felony strangulation and suffocation charge against Alexander Vinton Figi, 36, River Falls, was dismissed April 28 upon completion of a deferred judgment of conviction agreement. The charge resulted from a Jan. 17, 2021 incident.

A felony bail jumping charge against Holly Amanda Johnson, 41, Cambridge, Minn., was dismissed April 28 upon completion of a deferred judgment of conviction agreement. The charge stemmed from a May 4, 2021 incident.
