Monday was week three of the Christmas carols book. When asked for more holiday songs, suggestions were, “Marshmallow World,” “I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas,” and “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.” So next week, we will have those melodies ready for singing! After lunch, the bird feeders were filled, mail delivered, and naps taken. By mid-afternoon we were ready for some popcorn. With full bellies, folks were ready for the challenge to play Tic Tac Toss. Winners this week were: Fourth, Milda Bautch; third, Nancy Bishop, Ivan Mason; second, Alice Brantner, Shirley Klinski, Kevin Bauer, Dorothy Pfaffe; and first place champ (with triple threes in a row!) Goldie Helwig. A quick supper and we set up for bingo. We welcomed Pat Frion who helped us set up and deliver candy rewards.
Mass and communion began the day Tuesday. Father Jojo and Terry Pelzel arrived before the snow flew. Folks stayed out for a fun game of “Name That Holiday Tune.” This week we were challenged with both traditional and more contemporary songs. Those earning places were: Fourth, Patty Morrison, Shirley Klinski; third, Dorothy Pfaffe; second, Carol Bauer, Barb Grewe; and first, Penny Stafford. Our craft group arrived right on time and were ready to make some glitter ornaments using floor wax! Yep, they didn’t believe me either! We enjoyed sloshing it around and choosing pretty colors, even mixing a few colors together. We did a quick clean up and joined Pastor Darren Catron and Irene Hoffman from Lund Mission Covenant Church for a time of worship and song. Our evening concluded the day with a fun game of “Cover the Number.”
Wednesday wobbled in with our bowlers and the pins. It was such fun having Kaedence Pope and Kenlee Daleiden here to assist with score keeping and setting pins. They were both dressed as Cindy Lou Who from the Grinch movies. It was “dresslike- your-favorite-characterfrom- a-Christmas-movie” day at the Plum City Elementary School. Earning places were: Fourth, Dorothy Pfaffe; third, Milda Bautch; second, Kevin Bauer; and first (for the second week in a row!) Ivan Mason. It was on to afternoon activities beginning with fruit bingo. Thanks to Lana Ingli for assisting with delivering candy rewards. Black out winner this week was Sandy Sjoquist. Many of our folks stayed out for our mid-week social: hot cocoa and peppermint candies!
Braving the cold, wind and snow, Marlene Zimmer barreled down the street to read all the happenings from the local papers. The storm brought 6+ inches and we were thankful to be able to stay put. We didn’t even have to shovel the walks. Lunch followed and mid-afternoon many of the ladies lined up for manicures. With nails drying, we enjoyed seeing Brad Richardson arrive with his totes full of cuteness as the weather didn’t stop him either.
Due to the inclement weather, many of our special activities were canceled but hopefully will be rescheduled this week. Even our happy hour entertainer could not make it. So we did the next best thing with some fantastic entertainers: US. It was Christmas Karaoke! We all sang holiday songs and many had opportunities for a solo with the microphone. Mint chocolate chip milk shakes topped off the afternoon and soon supper arrived. After the fun and festivities, we enjoyed the evening watching a popular flick, “The Polar Express.” Day light is hard to come by this time of year, so consider bringing a little sunshine by stopping in to visit. We’ll have cookies and cocoa to share.
