ELLSWORTH Police Department Reports

The following incidents were reported to the Ellsworth Police Department March 14-20.

Monday, March 14

A caller reported a suspicious man on a bike at 2:34 a.m. near Cenex (232 Wallace St.) Police didn’t locate him.

Tuesday, March 15

Officers were called about an animal complaint at 3:31 p.m. at 900 S. Piety St. A black Lab and a yellow Lab were on the loose. One family was told they need to figure out a way to control the dogs. Police were unable to speak with the other dog’s owner(s).

Wednesday, March 16 Rachel Hutcheson, 22, Prescott, was arrested for a probation violation at 11:39 a.m. at 310 W. Main St.

At 3:54 p.m., a resident at 155 S. Chestnut St. said his daughter had just arrived home and the sliding door was ajar. An officer checked the home, which was empty.

Police responded at 8 p.m. to 358 S. Piety St. for a man on the ground who was unresponsive but breathing. An ambulance transported him Red Wing Mayo Clinic. Officers notified Goodhue County because the man had two active Minnesota warrants.

Friday, March 18

At 11:33 a.m., an Ellsworth High School employee reported an inappropriate photo which had been taken in the bathroom during the first week of March. The school handled the incident.

Danielle Hanson, 34, Ellsworth, was arrested for a probation violation at 1:11 p.m. at 310 W. Main St. Police transported her to the jail without incident.

At 2:44 p.m., a complainant at 137 S. Grant St. reported that a man allows his dog to go to the bathroom in the parking lot of Final Final Sports Bar and never cleans it up. When it snows and the lot is plowed, the waste is plowed into her yard. She named a suspect.

A resident at 440 W. Ray St. reported at 6:36 p.m. that someone on Facebook was trying to sell him a gun and drugs for his vehicle. The Facebook profile had no identifying information nor numbers attached to it. Police told the resident to block the profile and report if anything else happened.

Saturday, March 19

Police checked on a man in a vehicle parked at Family Dollar (181 E. Main St.) at 4:30 p.m. The man said he’d been waiting for his daughter for the past hour; they were supposed to go shopping. He wasn’t sleeping and said he ignored people who came up to his window to check on him.

Sunday, March 20

Officers were asked to report at 8:11 a.m. to the top of the West Hill (Highway 10 and Hill Street) for a welfare check. The person in question was picked up by someone and headed west of town.

Police reported at 10:19 a.m. to 101 N. Maple St., where a man (from the previous complaint) was requesting a ride to the Woodshed Bar. He wanted to meet a friend there to get money for medication he needed to pick up at the Red Wing Walgreen’s. He said he’d been kicked out of the house by his girlfriend and needed a ride. He was advised to continue trying to contact friends for a ride.

At 3:06 p.m. a complainant at 815 E. Main St. reported ATVs being ridden in the creek between 815 and 809 E. Main St. The ATVs were entering and exiting the creek on his property and he was concerned about erosion. The suspect was contacted and advised to stay off the neighbor’s property and about the erosion concerns. If it’s determined that stretch of the creek is termed “navigable waters,” then ATV riding in it is not allowed.
