ELLSWORTH Police Department Reports

The following incidents were reported to Ellsworth Police Department Dec. 28 through Jan. 3.

Tuesday, Dec. 28 Donald Johnson, 74, Ellsworth, reported an accident at 4:27 p.m. He said he’d been heading northbound on 490th Avenue near Southgate Drive when he lost control and went off the road. He struck a sign and some smaller trees. A passing truck pulled his vehicle out. He declined EMS.

Wednesday, Dec. 29

At 9:37 a.m., a resident at 635 W. Crest Lane reported someone had fraudulently used her bank account and cashed a $5,000 check in her name at a bank in Rochester, N.H. The bank’s fraud department refused to provide information without a warrant. They said a supervisor would call an officer back.

Officers assisted Ellsworth Fire at 10:53 p.m. at 356 S. Walnut St.

Thursday, Dec. 30

A complainant reported an underage party at 12:15 a.m. at 481 W. Overlook Drive. A juvenile had sent her mother a photo of her being drunk. The homeowner said a few of his child’s friends had gotten together to celebrate his birthday, but none of them were drinking. The homeowner didn’t let police into the house.

Police were called at 5:31 p.m. to a domestic at 112 Evergreen Estates St. One man had apparently come home at 5 p.m. “talking nonsense.” The other man reported a hurt toe after the upset man stepped on it. The two parties separated for the evening.

Friday, Dec. 31

At 10:01 p.m., officers assisted deputies at the jail in moving an inmate from a cell to a chair. A use of force report was filed.

Saturday, Jan. 1

Police warned residents at 12:10 a.m. at 237 N. Grant St. for fireworks.

Officers assisted Pierce County deputies in attempting to locate an intoxicated person at 6:29 p.m. near North Piety and West Main streets. A woman thought he might have gotten a ride somewhere or walked to a friend’s house. She was told to call back if he was located.

At 4:42 p.m., police received a complaint about unusual driving behavior near North Maple and West Grove streets. Police made contact with the driver, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, among other issues. Family picked up the driver and removed the car.

A complainant reported at 8:14 p.m. being threatened at the Eastender bar for not paying his bar tab. The employee allegedly said “Next time I see you, you better have my money.” He wanted it documented.

Sunday, Jan. 2

At 11:55 a.m., police responded to 820 E. Main St., where a deceased man was found. The medical examiner was contacted.

At 10:03 p.m., police received a report about a dog being outside for a long time in the 400 block of West Church Street. When police checked it out, the dog had been brought inside.

Monday, Jan. 3

At 2:37 p.m., the American Legion asked Melstrom’s to tow a vehicle from its lot (139 S. Oak St.) It was determined the vehicle had been in a crash on Dec. 23 in Pierce County. Police attempted to contact the registered owner.

At 3:33 p.m., a man reported his dog pooper scooper as stolen. The last time he saw it (it’s blue and black) was at his residence at 120 Evergreen Estates St. on Dec. 29. It’s valued at about $20.
