The maple sap is running, the trout streams are boiling over, and the walleyes are biting in Red Wing. All are signs that spring is near with warmer days and turkey hunting right around the corner. When that tom turkey hammers out his first gobble of the year, you know that spring is not on the way anymore, it is here. Even though it’s a few weeks away I can’t stop thinking about turkey hunting.
As much as I’d like to check on some maple trees or head to the Mississippi River, it’s just not in the cards for me today. So, while I spend another day in the DaveCave, I need to make the most out of my situation. I am using the time to get my turkey hunting gear lined up so when that first gobble of the year rings throughout the valley, I will be there not only to hear it, but also to answer it.
