RIVER FALLS – River Falls City Administrator Scot Simpson was honored to welcome State Rep. Shannon Zimmerman to City Hall on Friday, Jan. 24 to discuss how the two plan to continue working together during the new legislative session. Topics included housing and economic development, mental health funding, and government innovation and efficiency.
Rep. Zimmerman has been a strong advocate for River Falls at the state level, including supporting the Shared Revenue Bill that was passed into law in 2023. The increase in state shared revenue that resulted from the bill was a key reason the new fire station remodel was able to move forward.
“We have had a great working relationship with Rep. Zimmerman since he joined the Wisconsin Legislature in 2017 and are thankful for his support of the work we do at the city to make River Falls a better place for residents and visitors alike,” Simpson said.
In addition to his support of the Shared Revenue Bill, Rep. Zimmerman has also advocated for funding for training for the River Falls Police Department and financial assistance to support the city’s Kinni Corridor project. He was also a proponent for funding for the new SciTech building on the UW-River Falls campus.
Zimmerman is currently serving his fourth term in the Wisconsin Legislature, representing Assembly District 30.
