Walior, River Falls. Gould backed into the rear end of the Equinox while backing out of a parking space, causing minor damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported.
Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 5:46 p.m. at Main and Division streets between a 2005 Saab 9-3, driven by Matthew James Mickus, 21, River Falls, and a 2024 Honda CRV, driven by Theresa Elizabeth Reardon, 63, River Falls. Reardon, who was traveling northbound and had the right of way, turned right onto Division Street while Mickus, who was heading south on Main Street, turned left onto Division and struck her vehicle. Mickus told police he was “half asleep” and thought Reardon was going to let him turn even though she had the right of way. His vehicle had functional damage, while Reardon’s had minor damage. Mickus left the scene briefly but felt bad and returned. No injuries were reported. Mickus was cited $98.80 for fail/yield while making left turn.

At 12:17 a.m., an officer found Brandon Lynn Walker, 39, Ellsworth, sleeping near one of the picnic shelters at Hoffman Park (547 Hanson Drive) after park hours. He gave officers the name of Brandon VanGuilder, denied having any identification, said he was homeless and had been walking between towns. He kept trying to hide his face beneath a hat and hood and wouldn’t look at officers, who suspected he was Walker. This was confirmed when dispatch sent his latest booking photo. Walker was arrested for a probation warrant and resisting or obstructing an officer and transported to Pierce County Jail.
Police responded at 5:39 p.m. to Positive Alternatives (2860 Williams Ave.) for a 17-year-old juvenile found with a THC vape. Another juvenile had turned it over to residents after trying it and having adverse side effects. The suspect denied using it and said she had taken it from her grandmother. Possession of THC and distribution of a controlled substance to a minor charge were referred to the district attorney’s office. Police also contacted the juvenile’s social worker.
At 7:27 p.m., police were dispatched to 121 N. Fremont St. to make a civil warrant arrest. They located Emily Rose Peterfeso, 30, River Falls, at a nearby playground with her children. She told officers she had filed an appeal with the appellate court regarding a custody dispute and claimed her due process rights were being obstructed. She was allowed to call family members to arrange for child care before she was transported to Pierce County Jail without incident.

Police were notified of a vandalized door at 12:10 a.m. at 442 Seventh St. When two residents returned from a concert, they noticed the bolt of their back screen door missing. They thought it might have been a juvenile prank but had no suspects.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 11:07 a.m. at the Kwik Trip Car Wash (1238 N. Main St.) between a 2013 Audi S5, driven by Michael Robert Kruse, 68, Hudson, and a 2024 Chevy Silverado, driven by Gerald Walter Reis, 79, River Falls. Both vehicles were in line at the car wash, with Reis in front of Kruse. Reis began to back up slowly and struck Kruse’s front end. Reis said he was waiting in line and doesn’t believe he backed up. Both vehicles had minor damage. No injuries were reported.
At 12:19 p.m., a 15-year-old River Falls juvenile reported ongoing harassment via social media and other means from another 15-year-old River Falls juvenile. The girl said the harassment had escalated in the last three weeks, but he’d been driving past her house on and off over the summer. The suspect denied trying to contact the complainant, following her on social media, making disparaging remarks against her or going past her house. Police learned the complainant has an active restraining order against the suspect, so a violate/harassment restraining order charge was sent to the district attorney’s office for review.
Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 1:53 p.m. in front of 423 W. Pine St. between a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer, driven by Katrina Kay Hostetler, 31, River Falls, and a legally parked 2001 Mazda Miata, owned by Lisa Rae Ziebarth, 56, River Falls. No injuries were reported.
At 4:56 p.m., police were dispatched to 543 Hamilton Court for a disagreement between two parties about property access and court-ordered agreements. A woman said she was at the house to retrieve personal belongings and her dogs as part of a court order. She provided court documents to police to prove her claims, but her soon-to-be ex-husband refused to allow her to take any of her belongings unless she signed vehicle title paperwork. Both parties signed vehicle title paperwork with police present, but the man still wouldn’t let her in the house. Both parties were told to address it in court due to it being a civil matter.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 5:31 p.m. in the Family Fresh (303 S. At 9:04 a.m., a St. Croix County deputy informed police of a fraud case concerning the Rhino’s Foundation, a nonprofit based in River Falls that provides assistance to people with cancer. The Foundation had written a $500 check to Brandice Maher, 41, Hudson, upon her request for help in July. On Aug. 26 and 27, four additional checks totaling $500 were online deposited in Maher’s account; they appeared to have been altered, and one of them was made out to another name. Maher denied copying the check or trying to deposit the four additional checks. Her bank marked them as fraudulent and took the $2,000 out of her account. The Rhino’s Foundation was not out any money. The case is under investigation.
