River Falls Police Department reports: Feb. 24-March 2, 2025

The following incidents were reported to River Falls Police Department Feb. 24 through March 2.

Monday, Feb. 24

  • Police were dispatched at 8:03 a.m. to 360 High Ridge Road for possible mail theft. The complainant noticed his mailbox and others were open and empty. In the neighborhood and surrounding areas, more than 15 mailboxes were open and empty. Police advised residents to check their credit reports/bank accounts for fraudulent activity. A few cameras along the route showed a person on a bike going through at least two mailboxes.
  • Timothy Matthew Cariveau, 26, River Falls, was cited $187 for trespassing at 1234 S. Wasson Lane. Cariveau has been told to stay off the properties because he makes residents feel uncomfortable. He goes around in black clothes and a ski mask, knocking on doors, covering up peepholes, looking in windows and more. He was told to stay off the properties.
  • Officers were called at 2:27 p.m. to Kwik Trip (1536 Cemetery Road) for a $100 counterfeit bill. Police were able to track down the person who passed it.
  • At 4:09 p.m., a complainant reported a possible trespassing complaint at 1470 Cemetery Road. Police warned the suspect not to enter the apartment without permission; the complainant accused him of going into the apartment to get a Firestick, but he denied doing so.
  • Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 4:35 p.m. on Main Street just north of Locust Street between a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Heidi Nadine Williams, 40, Hammond, and a legally parked 2017 Ram 1500, owned by Kurt Daniel Vogel, 40, Hudson. Williams was trying to pull into a parking stall in front of Vogel’s truck and struck his vehicle, causing minor damage to both. No injuries were reported.
  • Howard William Salter, 22, River Falls, was cited $98.80 for non-registration of vehicle/auto and $187 for possession of THC after a traffic stop at 9:25 p.m. at Main Street and Quarry Road. Salter smelled of marijuana; he admitted to having some on his person and in his vehicle. Officers seized 4.88 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

 

Tuesday, Feb. 25

  • A 13-year-old student was cited $98.80 for disorderly conduct at 10:59 a.m. at Meyer Middle School (230 N. Ninth St.) after yelling at the assistant principal that she hoped he would get fired and die. She was also suspended from school for the remainder of the day and the next day.
  • Police responded at 7:25 p.m. to 405 S. Wasson Lane for a disturbance. A woman was in her apartment yelling and playing loud music. Police told her to keep it down, but when they returned to her apartment after learning she had a warrant out for her arrest for a missed court date, they heard her crying. Officers arrested Madelyn G. Kloos, 39, River Falls, for the warrant and transported her to Pierce County Jail. She continuously talked to herself in the squad or appeared to be talking to someone who wasn’t there. She also failed the booking process at the jail.

 

Wednesday, Feb. 26

  • Officers were dispatched at 8:33 a.m. to Kwik Trip (1238 N. Main St.) for theft of fuel and merchandise. Two men in a gray Ford F350 stole two pork rib sandwiches and $102.57 in diesel fuel without paying at 4:31 p.m. Feb. 19. The same vehicle returned Feb. 25; one man went inside and took two sausage and egg croissants along with two Twisted Teas without paying; the man outside pumped $90.59 in diesel fuel and left without paying. Police were able to identify a suspect, who has a history of theft and other crimes in Minnesota. He paid for the $193 in fuel over the phone because he said he didn’t want his reputation tarnished. The food was not paid for. The suspect claimed he had sold the truck prior to the thefts, but paid for the gas to clear his name.
  • Cayden James Kershaw, 20, Wausau, was cited $187 for ID card violation after attempting to use a fake ID to purchase nicotine at 8:35 p.m. at Kwik Trip (1536 Cemetery Road).

Thursday, Feb. 27

  • Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at 11:35 a.m. in the parking lot of 1583 Paulson Road between a 2004 Jeep Liberty, driven by Patrick David Mcaloon, 33, Hudson, and a legally parked 2018 Chevy Express, driven by Cole Jerome Penk, 23, Prescott. Mcaloon was backing out of a parking stall and struck Penk’s back driver’s side corner, causing minor damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported.
  • At 7:23 p.m., a resident at 908 Willow Place reported continued harassment and intimidation by her ex-husband. She suspected him of hacking into her social media, email and phone. Police provided her some advice on things to do secure her accounts.

 

Friday, Feb. 28

  • Police responded to a domestic at 1:28 a.m. at 555 N. Main St. A man and woman were fighting about relationship issues and the man admitted to pushing the woman out of the way when trying to get clothes out of the closet. She admitted to punching him first. Both had had a couple of drinks, they said. Police arrested Michael Leroy Winberg, 53, River Falls, for a probation hold and transported him to St. Croix County Jail without incident.
  • Officers were notified of fraud at 6:43 p.m. by a resident at 353 Kiana Court. Someone had hacked into her email and Facebook account and changed the passwords. She was able to get into them and change them again. Then, $500 worth of cleaning supplies was shipped to her house from Walmart.com, using her credit card. The credit card company stopped payment on the transaction, and she wasn’t out any money. She was advised to report the incident to ic3.gov
  • Police were notified of a hit and run at 12:07 p.m. that occurred at 9 p.m. Feb. 2 in the parking lot of 1457 Wildcat Court. An unknown vehicle struck the front of a 2023 Mazda CX30, leaving behind a cracked bumper and broken sensor. There are no suspects.
  • Officers were dispatched to a fight between juveniles at 7:39 p.m. at a dance at Meyer Middle School (230 N. Ninth St.) One girl accused the other of punching her in the face and pulling her hair, while that girl accused the other of kicking her friends and trying to fight. The girls were separated and their parents called.
  • Rahul Simon Wilson, 23, Eden Prairie, Minn., was arrested and cited $500 for OWI-second, $500 for operating with PAC-second and $98.80 for speeding on city highway after a traffic stop for speeding at 11:32 p.m. at Main and Union streets. Wilson had trouble telling officers where he was coming from and smelled of alcohol. His eyes were glossy and his speech slurred. After performing field sobriety tests and registering a .130 BAC, he was arrested and booked. He was also taken to the hospital for a blood draw.

Saturday, March 1

At 6:08 p.m., a caller at Kwik Trip (1238 N. Main St.) reported a group of underage kids in a Saturn Aura possibly drinking. The driver struck a barrier in the parking lot and stumbled out of the vehicle. Police made contact with the vehicle’s five occupants. The driver had not been drinking and registered zeroes on a breath test. Others admitted to drinking at someone’s house and said they weren’t supposed to leave. Ethan Michael Letourneau, 18, Coon Rapids, Minn.; Gabriela Estela-Ivette Wilson, 18, River Falls; and Olivia Mae Pagenkopf, 19, Prescott, were cited $187 for underage drinking/possession. A 17-year-old Hudson juvenile was cited $313 for underage drinking/possession (second offense). Their parents were also notified.

 

Sunday, March 2

  • Police were dispatched at 3:59 a.m. to a home in the 600 block of West Pine Street where a woman had shown up crying with a broken arm caused by her boyfriend. After interviewing the woman, who told police she and her boyfriend had started arguing about a TV after drinking quite a bit, police responded to 504 W. Division St. where the incident had occurred. The woman said after bursting through a door and pushing her to the ground, she began punching back at him with her other arm. When he threatened to get a gun, she fled the home afraid for her life. Trevor A Brown, 33, River Falls, told police she had moved in that day and wasn’t really his girlfriend. He claimed he pushed her to the ground when she started punching him. Brown said they’d both been drinking and the woman had just gotten out of treatment for alcohol. He was arrested for substantial battery – intend bodily harm and domestic disorderly conduct and transported to jail.
  • Salvador Melendez Alvarado, 57, River Falls, was arrested and cited $200 for operate without valid license (second within three years) and $389.50 for failure of operator to notify police of accident after striking two mailboxes and leaving the scene at 5:53 a.m. at 1333 N. Main St. Melendez Alvarado said he’d had a coughing fit and didn’t know he’d hit anything. Police tracked down the vehicle at his employer’s parking lot after reviewing traffic camera footage.
  • At 12:52 p.m., police learned a Siberian Husky had bitten a child the day before at 1470 Cemetery Road. The dog had bitten someone else in January. The owner said the dog, which is old and half-blind, has a history of food aggression and bit the child’s hand. A quarantine order was issued.
  • At 12:58 p.m., police were notified that a student’s parent had become aggressive with school staff during a dance at Meyer Middle School (230 N. Ninth St.) Feb. 28. Staff said he had walked into the dance, swearing and being rude to staff in front of kids. The report said this was at least the third time Jeffrey Alan Cohoon, 55, River Falls, had exhibited disruptive behavior on school district property. He was trespassed from school property for one year.
  • At 4:34 p.m., police were notified of a dog bite that occurred on the trail near the water treatment plant at 432 S. Apollo Road. A woman was walking three dogs off-leash on the Foster trail and one of them bit a man’s leg, ripping through his jeans. The dogs’ owner Caitlin McCoy O’Connor, 35, River Falls, was cited $98.80 for dog running at large. The dog was issued a quarantine order as well.
