The following incidents were reported to River Falls Police Department Jan. 10-21, 2026.
Saturday, Jan. 10
- At 5 p.m., officers were dispatched to a disturbance at 221 S. Fourth St. An intoxicated woman became upset after her teen son allegedly took her car keys to prevent her from driving. Witnesses said the woman bit the teen’s hand and grabbed him by the sweatshirt, threw items and smashed them and scared other juvenile children onsite, who were taken to another home by a family member. Police found broken glass and smashed items throughout the home, but the woman refused to exit her bedroom. Witnesses said she had been drinking Fireball whiskey and was very drunk. The teen left with his father and the case was forwarded to Pierce County Child Protective Services.
- Police responded at 5:26 p.m. to 703 N. Main St. for a theft complaint. A man residing at 1875 Paulson Road reported two men who had been hanging out at his apartment had stolen his debit card while he was in the bathroom and taken it to Anthony’s Tobacco to make purchases. Police were able to identify one suspect via video surveillance. The victim was reimbursed by his bank for the stolen funds. The case remains under investigation.
- At 9:41 p.m., police checked on an occupied vehicle parked at Larsen Park (1800 Sorensen St.) that had marijuana smells wafting from its cracked windows. Of the four occupants inside, only one admitted to smoking marijuana. Police located several grinders, containers with marijuana or marijuana residue, pre-rolled papers, and other drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, along with empty vape containers. A 17-year-old River Falls juvenile was cited $187 for possession of THC and $187 for possess drug paraphernalia and released to her father. Her 15-year-old River Falls juvenile friend was released to her mother. Jake Jason Alexis Pederson, 21, River Falls, was cited $187 for possess drug paraphernalia. He and his friend, Cody Graham Buschmann, 19, River Falls, were given a courtesy ride to their vehicle at Heritage Park.
Sunday, Jan. 11
- Police responded to a hit and run crash at 1:09 p.m. at 407 S. Wasson Lane. Jessica Lin Leyendecker, 36, River Falls, reported that an unknown vehicle had struck her legally parked 2019 Hyundai Accent while it was unoccupied, causing minor damage to its rear bumper. She last saw the vehicle undamaged at 4 p.m. Jan. 10. Tire tracks indicated a vehicle traveling westbound may have swerved, gone over the curb and struck Leyendecker’s vehicle; however, video surveillance of the area did not show the vehicle being struck. The case remains unsolved.
- At 8:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to a suspicious activity complaint in the 1000 block of Sunset Lane. The complainants reported a man stumbling around the block and knocking on a neighbor’s door, who didn’t answer. They believed drug dealers were trying to connect with a neighbor. The complainant’s neighbor said she was trying to sell her daughter’s boyfriend’s car to three people who were on the scene. Inside the suspects’ vehicle police located opened bottles of Windsor and vodka, empty shooters of 99 Mangoes, an open hard lemonade, over 110 grams of marijuana, a straw that tested positive for cocaine and a roach. All three occupants denied knowing about the marijuana in the car. The driver, identified as Aaron John Raghubar, 32, Bloomington, Minn., refused to do field sobriety tests and denied driving, but smelled of alcohol. He said he’d had cough syrup; police arrested him for OWI-fourth, possession of THC and possess drug paraphernalia. He was transported to St. Croix County Jail after a blood draw at the hospital. He was also cited $187 for possess open intoxicants in motor vehicle – driver. Passenger Abdul Aleem Manraj, 31, Brooklyn Park, Minn., was arrested for possession of THC (second + offense) and possess drug paraphernalia. He was also cited $124 for possess open intoxicants in motor vehicle – passenger. Aneesa Raheema Manraj, 29, Champlin, Minn., was also arrested and cited $124 for possess open intoxicants in motor vehicle – passenger, possess drug paraphernalia and possession of THC. They were also transported to St. Croix County Jail. Once released, Aneesa Manraj was given a courtesy ride to the police station to retrieve two dogs who had been with her. She was not allowed to drive due to a BAC of .17.
Monday, Jan. 12
- Police were dispatched to an unexpected death at 7:24 a.m. at 2348 Aurora Circle. A Comforts of Home employee found an 86-year-old woman deceased in her room. The medical examiner ruled the death as natural.
- Officers were called to a theft complaint at 3:30 p.m. at 426 Spring St. A resident reported $300-400 cash missing from her purse, possibly taken by two men who had entered the residence without permission through a window. The case remains under investigation.
- Kady Alice Bauschelt, 46, River Falls, was cited 691 for failure to stop for a school bus after passing a stopped school bus at 3:02 p.m. at Cascade Avenue and Valley View Drive.
- Beverly A McCoy, 69, River Falls, was cited $691 for failing to stop for a stopped school bus at 3:58 p.m. at Cemetery and Southridge roads. She told police she thought she only had to stop for a stopped bus if it’s in her travel lane.
- At 5:51 p.m., a resident at 3248 Sussex St. reported receiving requests from people claiming represent her Apple account for gift cards from Lowe’s. They said purchasing the gift cards was necessary to safeguard her money from scammers. This is a common scam tactic. The complainant did not provide them any information or money.
- Police responded to an assault at 6:51 p.m. at Kinnic Health & Rehab (1663 E. Division St.) in which an 82-year-old resident slapped a 79-year-old resident in the dining room. The women have an ongoing history of arguing; staff separated them immediately and will review their care plans. Neither woman was injured.
Tuesday, Jan. 13
- Police responded to a noise complaint at 2:28 p.m. at 1839 Rodao Drive #1. Two women had arrived at their friend’s residence to pick up a mattress and return her house keys and found her under the influence of meth. The women began arguing, prompting a neighbor to call police. The woman’s father took her Regions Hospital for voluntary treatment.
- Officers were notified of a hit and run at 3:41 p.m. at Aldi (1567 Sullivan Court). An unknown vehicle struck the rear passenger corner of a legally parked 2025 Chevy Traverse, owned by Brittany A. Miller, River Falls. The striking vehicle left white paint behind, but no note or information. A suspect was interviewed; his vehicle had no signs of damage.
Wednesday, Jan. 14
- Peri Marie Baglio, 26, Lakeland, Minn., was cited $691 for failure to stop for a school bus at 11:42 a.m. on Radio Road near The Current apartments.
- Maxwell Jeffrey Rotsaert, 22, River Falls, was cited $691 for failure to stop for a school bus at 4:09 p.m. at Cemetery Road and Wisconsin Street.
Thursday, Jan. 15
- Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 8:52 a.m. in the parking lot of 1567 Sullivan Court between a 2015 Toyota Sienna, driven by Laura Kristin Wolfe, 37, River Falls, and a 2015 Chevy Silverado, driven by Carlton Wayne Trainham, 51, River Falls. Wolfe was driving north in the parking lot when Trainham backed into her vehicle while backing out of a parking space. Both vehicles had minor damage. Wolfe and her two juvenile passengers, ages 6 and 3, reported no injuries. Trainham and his passenger Theodore Henry Edwards, 32, River Falls, reported no injuries.
- Officers were dispatched at 3:05 p.m. to University Center (501 Wild Rose Ave.) While unrolling a tarp, staff had found a glass marijuana bowl. It was turned in to be destroyed.
- At 5:10 p.m., police assisted Child Protective Services in taking a 16-year-old who had bee on the run for a month into custody at 1300 S. Main St. The teen was dropped off at a family friend’s home by a 26-year-old man who denied having a sexual relationship with her. Police transferred her to a group home in Rochester, Minn.
Friday, Jan. 16
- At 9:59 a.m., police were made aware of a situation between students at the Renaissance Charter Academy (1355 Sunshine St.) One student had charged $300 to an ex-boyfriend’s debit card without his permission. Her current boyfriend allegedly threatened the ex-boyfriend and a teacher. The case is under investigation.
- Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 4:30 p.m. in the River Falls High School (818 Cemetery Road) parking lot between a 2009 Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 16-year-old River Falls juvenile, and a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country, driven by a 16-year-old River Falls juvenile. Both vehicles were traveling eastbound through the parking lot when the Chrysler tried to pass the Hyundai; the driver told police he intended to drive close to the Hyundai then back off, but they collided. The Hyundai was towed due to disabling damage. The Chrysler had moderate damage. Neither driver nor the Chrysler’s 16-year-old female passenger reported injuries.
- Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at 4:56 p.m. at Main and Division streets between a 2012 Chevy Equinox, driven by Cole Wayne Plourde, 20, River Falls, and a 2024 Dodge Durango, driven by Renee Marie Sellman, 77, River Falls. Plourde was on Division Street in the turn lane, preparing to turn south onto Main Street. He had a green arrow and proceeded into the intersection, where Sellman, who was heading east on Division Street, struck him. No injuries were reported. The Dodge had minor damage, while the Chevy had moderate damage. Sellman was cited $111.40 for failure to yield the right of way.
Saturday, Jan. 17
- Police were dispatched at 10:12 a.m. to 902 Leroy Court for a verbal argument. A woman and her fiancé’s grandmother were arguing over children’s sleeping arrangements. The grandparents left the house after trying to take one of the children with them. The incident was documented and forwarded to Child Protective Servies.
- Kimberly Laura Tapager, 53, Ellsworth, was arrested and cited $250 for operating while revoked (alcohol related) after a traffic stop for swerving at 4:30 p.m. at Cemetery Road and Highway 65. Police located Tapager’s running, unoccupied vehicle at Ptacek’s Family Market (1121 S. Main St.) She was booked and released.
Sunday, Jan. 18
- At 2:50 a.m., police saw a Chevy Silverado pull out from a parking spot in the 100 block of North Main Street and cross the center line several times. The vehicle drove to Dale’s Service Station on St. Croix Street, where it parked for about a minute. The vehicle then headed to Kwik Trip (1238 N. Main St.) where it pulled into a gas pump and sat there for about a minute, pulled out from the pumps and drove in two small circles before going behind the Kwik Trip building. The driver then turned left onto Main Street without using a blinker. Police pulled the vehicle over near Powell Avenue and identified the driver as Raymond A. Williams, 59, River Falls. He said he has been checking on the heat in his shop and admitted to drinking beer downtown. Following field sobriety testing, Wiliams refused a breath test. However, he consented to one at the police station which revealed a .22 BAC. He was arrested and cited $986 for OWI and $986 for operating with PAC > .15. He was booked and released to his wife.
- Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at 5:16 p.m. on Highway 65 just south of Cascade Avenue between a 2012 Ford Focus, driven by Holger Romel Gonzalez Gonzalez, 24, River Falls, and a 2007 Ford F150, driven by Ryan Andrew McCormick, 30, River Falls. Gonzalez Gonzalez was traveling northbound, while McCormick was heading south, lost traction on the ice, rotated clockwise and drifted into the oncoming lane. Gonzalez Gonzalez struck McCormick, rotated clockwise and came to a stop facing east. McCormic was propelled off the road to the east, rolled over completely and landed on its tires in the ditch facing northwest. Both vehicles were towed due disabling damage. Neither driver reported injuries. Gonzalez Gonzales was cited $200 for operate without valid license (second within three years) and $124 for operate motor vehicle without insurance. McCormick was cited $136.60 for driving too fast for conditions.
- Police were notified of a one-vehicle crash at 8:26 p.m. on Highway 35, two-thirds of a mile north of Highway 65. A 2016 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Austin Jon Alford, 20, Baldwin, was heading south on icy roads, lost control and struck a series of cable barrier poles in the median. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Alford reported no injuries.
Monday, Jan. 19
Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at 11:55 a.m. on Highway 35 just south of Division Street between a 2004 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Grace Olivia Groh, 24, Bay City, and a 2007 Chevy Cobalt, driven by Dylan Eugene Ryle, 30, Ellsworth. Both vehicles were heading south on Highway 35 when Groh lost control on the icy bridge and struck a guardrail. While trying to straighten the vehicle, she turned at an angle, at which point Ryle struck her. The Jeep had minor damage while the Cobalt had moderate damage. No injuries were reported. Ryle was cited $150 for ignition interlock device tampering/failure to install/violate court order, $250 for operating while revoked (alcohol related) and $124 for operate motor vehicle without insurance.
Tuesday, Jan. 20
At 9:34 p.m., Kwik Trip (1200 S. Main St.) employees called in a possible drunk driver for driving over a curb. Police found the running vehicle containing three occupants parked at 906 State St. playing loud music. The driver was identified as Franklin Orlando Contento Lapo, 47, River Falls. He smelled of alcohol, had trouble standing and speaking and had glassy, bloodshot eyes. He registered a .279 BAC and told hospital staff during a blood draw that he and the two passengers had consumed a bottle of vodka before buying more beer. He was arrested and cited $850 for OWI-third, $150 for ignition interlock device tampering/failure to install/violate court order, $200 for operate without valid license (second within three years) and misdemeanor bail jumping. Police transported him to Pierce County Jail. Passenger Richard Hernan Macas Japon, 34, Minneapolis, was also drinking, which violated his bond conditions. Two misdemeanor bail jumping charges were forwarded to the district attorney’s office.
Wednesday, Jan. 21
- At 2:10 a.m., police pulled over a vehicle for expired plates and turning its headlights off and on multiple times after leaving the downtown area near Falcon Drive and Ninth Street. Scott Alan Salfer, 60, River Falls, told police he’d been at Shooter’s. After completing field sobriety tests and registering a BAC of .168, police arrested him for OWI. They also located a loaded 9mm handgun on his person, which they removed. When taken to the hospital for a blood draw, Salfer allegedly became combative, demanding an attorney. He resisted being handcuffed, told officers they were going to die, used derogatory names and tipped over in a chair while resisting. Officers had to Tase him to gain cooperation. One officer was punched in the eye and had scratches. He was taken to Pierce County Jail with the added charges of go armed with firearm while intoxicated, threatening to cause bodily harm to certain individuals involved with the court system, resisting or obstructing an officer and resisting an officer – cause injury (substantial bodily harm or soft tissue).
- Officers were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash at 8:05 a.m. on Highway 35 three-quarters of a mile north of Highway 65. A 2005 Ford Explorer, driven by Lexus Marie Pickett, 28, River Falls, lost control while heading north and struck the center median cable barrier. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. No injuries were reported.
