River Falls Police Department reports: Jan. 8-11, 2025

The following incidents were reported to River Falls Police Department Jan. 8-11.
Wednesday, Jan. 8
Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 8:20 a.m. in the parking lot of River Falls High School (818 Cemetery Road) between a 2018 Dodge Journey, driven by a 16-year-old Hudson juvenile, and a 2008 Toyota Highlander, driven by a 17-year-old River Falls juvenile. The Highlander was trying to maneuver into the parking spot next to the Dodge Journey and struck it, causing minor damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported.
At 10:02 a.m., a man called police saying he was too “trashed” to walk home and asked for a ride home from Emma’s (222 S. Main St.) He had called 911 at least a dozen times the past few months asking for a ride; he was told police officers are not a taxi service. He became angry and began yelling expletive before hanging up the phone.
At 3:42 p.m., an officer reported seeing yellow “bubble” cursive writing spray-painted on a building at 114 S. Main St. The estimated cost to remove it was $500+.
Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at 5:43 p.m. at Main and Division streets between a 2013 Chevy Impala, driven by a 17-year-old River Falls juvenile and a 2013 Subaru Impreza, driven by Andrew Maxwell Stein, 18, Hudson. Both vehicles were heading north on Main Street when Stein, who was following the Impala closely, rear-ended it when it slowed for traffic congestion. Both vehicles had minor damage. The drivers nor passenger Denee Fox, 18, River Falls, reported injuries. Stein was cited $124 for automobile following too closely.
Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 5:58 p.m. at Wasson Lane and Cascade Avenue between a 2008 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Ty Anthony Hall, 25, River Falls, and a 2016 Hyundai Accent, driven by Alexyss Jade May, 26, River Falls. May was traveling westbound on Cascade Avenue into the roundabout, while Hall was traveling southbound on Wasson Lane. Hall failed to yield the right of way to May, who was already in the traffic circle, and caused a collision. The Elantra had functional damage, while May’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Neither driver nor May’s passenger Amanda K. Dunavan, 25, Minooka, Ill., reported injuries. Hall was cited $98.80 for fail/yield for yield sign and $124 for operate motor vehicle without insurance.
Thursday, Jan. 9
At 9:58 a.m., a man was accused of stealing a pot pie at Circle K (302 S. Main St.) Police located the suspect at Dairy Queen, where he admitted to leaving the store when they told him they were calling police. Matthew S. Carroll, 38, River Falls, told officers he had paid for the $4.49 pot pie, but then said he hadn’t. He was arrested and cited $187 for retail theft – intentionally take and trespassed from Circle K.
Police were summoned at 10:40 a.m. to the Radisson Hotel (100 E. Spring St.) for a guest being disorderly to staff in the lobby and pool area. Officers found the suspect in his room, which was strewn with alcohol bottles. He had urinated on himself and began to have a hard time breathing. Allina EMS transported him to Hudson Hospital.
At 10:55 a.m., a Kwik Trip (1238 N. Main St.) employee reported an older man with a long gray beard shoplifting beer cans two days in a row, valued at $8.71. When asked if he was going to pay for the beer in his pocket, the man said no and walked out of the store. The case remains under investigation.
At 11:20 a.m., police and Pierce County Human Services responded to a residence in the 900 block of Sycamore Street where a missing juvenile was suspected of hiding out after cutting off his court-ordered GPS bracelet. He had also posted pills for sale on Instagram. He was found hiding under a pile of pillows and blankets on his juvenile girlfriend’s bed, when a woman let police in to search for him. He was arrested for possess drug paraphernalia and possess with intent – Schedule IV drugs and brought to the police station. Police confiscated two vapes, bundled plastic baggies, at least 48 Xanax pills, a digital scale, a folding mirror with white residue and rolled up dollar bills.
Three Renaissance Academy students (ages 15 and 16) were suspended from school after being found in possession of a THC vape at 12:43 p.m. at the school. Two students admitted to smoking it, one while in a classroom.
A 17-year-old River Falls juvenile was cited $73.60 for possessing a tobacco vape at 12:58 p.m. at River Falls High School (818 Cemetery Road). The student was also suspended.
Officers were dispatched at 2:17 p.m. to a structure fire at 1450 S. Wasson Lane #72 with one person reportedly still inside. The fire was already out when officers arrived. A woman smoking had put the cigarette in dry leaves in a carport. The 81-year-old resident said she was asleep when the fire started. A 26-year-old man staying at the residence doused the fire with water when he first noticed the smoke. Part of the home’s exterior was also damaged. There were no injuries.
Friday, Jan. 10
A 14-year-old River Falls juvenile was cited $98.80 for possession of a THC vape at Meyer Middle School (230 N. Ninth St.)
At 1:20 p.m., during Pierce County bathroom checks at River Falls High School, three students were found vaping in the bathroom in separate stalls. One 17-year-old was cited $73.60 for possessing tobacco/nicotine; another 17-year-old juvenile was cited $86.20 for possessing tobacco/nicotine. Nicholas J. Condon, 18, was also cited. They were also suspended from school.
At 3:32 p.m., Kwik Trip (1200 S. Main St.) reported that a man had taken super glue into the bathroom at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 8; staff found the residue on the toilet. The suspect’s vehicle was registered to a 36-year-old woman from Stewartville, Minn.
Officers responded to a one-vehicle crash at 3:43 p.m. on Highway 35 one-third of a mile north of Highway 65. A 2007 Chevy Silverado, driven by Timmi Glewwe, 27, Hudson. While traveling southbound, Glewwe lost control on the icy roads. The vehicle struck a cable barrier and damaged five posts, causing functional damage to the vehicle. Glewwe said another driver cut her off, causing her to lose control. No injuries were reported.
Police were dispatched to a domestic incident between two women at 6:01 p.m. at 956 Dailey Place. During a child custody exchange, one woman pushed another with a car door, as witnessed by a neighbor. An agreement between the parties was mediated by police.
Saturday, Jan. 11
Kevin Michael Halvorson, 21, River Falls, was arrested and cited $986 for OWI and $986 for operating with PAC after a traffic stop for driving without headlights or taillights at 1:15 a.m. at Main and Park streets. Halvorson did not pull over right away and led police to a parking lot at a State Street apartment building. He said he’d been drinking at Broz Bar downtown; his movements were slow and his speech slurred. After performing field sobriety tests and registering a .145 BAC, he was arrested, booked and released to a sober friend.
At 4:30 a.m., police located an unoccupied vehicle in the middle of the road with its hazards on near Wasson Lane and Cascade Avenue. It looked like the vehicle collided with a curb in the roundabout and was disabled. Police called the owner, Sierra Michelle Davidson, 25, Spring Valley, several times before she answered. She said a friend had picked her up because she was cold. She was cited $313 for failure of operator to notify police of accident, $124 for operate motor vehicle without insurance and $124 for operating while suspended. The 2020 Nissan Sentra was towed due to disabling damage. Davidson reported no injuries.
Police responded at 12:17 p.m. to 218 W. Charlotte St. for a possible domestic dispute. Loud yelling could be heard on the second story. Police found several people in the hallway. A 25-year-old man said he was upset when his mother suggested his aunt come stay with them. He admitted to upending a religious altar set up by his mother and yelling. He was told to find more acceptable ways to express his feelings. A disorderly conduct charge was referred to the district attorney’ office.
