Tuesday, July 15

Police responded at 10:26 a.m. to a home in the 1400 block of Cemetery Road for a missing child. A mother discovered her 16-year-old son missing when she checked his bedroom. He had made it appear as if he was in the bed before leaving. The boy was located at his father’s house in Wisconsin Rapids.

Wednesday, July 16

  • Officers were dispatched to a fraud complaint at 2:50 p.m. at 700 Leroy Lane. An 86-year-old woman had received a call from someone claiming to be from the FBI who pretended her bank accounts had been compromised. They directed her to withdraw $27,000 from the bank and transfer it to a man in Pennsylvania, but the bank froze her accounts after deeming the transaction suspicious. Police called the number of the alleged FBI agent, who pretended then to be from the State Treasury Department. When he realized he was speaking to a police officer, he abruptly ended the call. No money was lost thanks to the intuition of the bank teller.
  • A caller reported their camper stolen at 4:38 p.m. from 1047 N. Main St. The property owner noticed the gate wouldn’t shut properly. On surveillance video, he saw a white Chevy pickup attempting to enter the gate by entering a code. He left and returned and was able to get through the gate, hook up the camper, a 2025 Forest River Gray Wolf valued at $34,000, and leave. Police contacted the truck’s registered owner, who discovered his license plates had been stolen and replaced with two mismatched plates. He was not in River Falls at the time the camper was stolen; someone was using his plates. The case remains under investigation.
  • At 8:36 p.m., a man reported a fraud case on his father’s behalf at 815 Sunset Lane. He believed his adult son was using his father’s credit card without his knowledge. That month alone, $2,500 in charges had appeared, including charges the caller knew his father hadn’t made. The case remains under investigation.
  • Officers were advised of a one-vehicle crash at 9:39 p.m. at the Highway 65/Cemetery Road roundabout. A 2010 Ford Crown Victoria, driven by Elijah James Deringer, 24, Beldenville, was heading east into the traffic circle when he “fish-tailed” and hit a pole. After coming to a stop, he drove off the median and continued south on Highway 65. The vehicle had functional damage. Deringer, who reported no injuries, said he wasn’t used to a rear-wheel drive vehicle he had just purchased. He was cited $136.60 for failure to keep vehicle under control.
  • Police responded to a domestic at 11:23 p.m. at 431 N. Second St. A woman told police her husband hit her in the face and choked her when she said she’d do the dishes tomorrow instead of that night. He pinned her on the bed and began suffocating her, saying he couldn’t stand her anymore and that she isn’t worthy. She has swelling on her face and was crying. Police arrested her husband, Pablo Andres Chamba Bermeo, 19, River Falls, for domestic disorderly conduct, domestic battery and strangulation and suffocation. He was transported to Pierce County Jail. A small child was present during the altercation.

Thursday, July 18

Jeraun James Carter, 33, River Falls, was cited $124 for operate without valid license after a traffic stop for operating without lights at 10:57 p.m. at Main and Church streets. His vehicle smelled of burnt marijuana, prompting a search. Police confiscated and destroy a small bag of marijuana and some THC gummies.

 

Friday, July 19

  • A mother reported a juvenile sextortion case at 6:53 p.m. at a house in the 500 block of River Hills Drive. A 16-year-old juvenile had mistakenly sent a nude photo to someone on Instagram. He told his mom right away; shortly thereafter, he
