The following incidents were reported to River Falls Police Department June 11 through Aug. 1, 2025.

Wednesday, June 11

At 10:29 a.m., police were informed that Waystone Coffee had received two threatening Facebook messages from someone with a presumably fake name. Facebook had disabled the account. The threats were regarding the Pride flags hung up at the business. One message said the flags make him want to shoot up the place. The second message said “…freaks like you are getting killed across the country and I loveSunday, June 12

  • Alex Wayne Trinko, 23, Baldwin, was cited $124 for urinating in public at 1:41 a.m. between two vehicles at Main and Elm streets.
  • At 3:38 p.m., a man reported that his cell phone had possibly been stolen from Emma’s (222 S. Main St.) the night before. The phone, worth $1,700 new, was a black Samsung Galaxy Fold 4.

Monday, July 15

  • At 9:31 a.m., police were dispatched to a report of a horse that had fallen out of a trailer near Main Street and Highway 35. When police arrived, the horse was lying on the side of the road with a large pool of blood beneath. The horse, who was being take to University of Minnesota for medical treatment, had a large gash on its head. Police helped keep the horse calm while a veterinarian was called. Eventually, the horse stood up on its own and people assisted it into its trailer. It continued to the U of M.

Thursday, July 17

Officers were dispatched at 9:22 p.m. to Kwik Trip (1536 Cemetery Road) for a person refused an alcohol purchase twice. The suspect was not at the store but had been calling the store and swearing at employees. Elijah James Deringer, 25, Beldenville, had come into the store and tried to purchase two small bottles of fireball. Employees refused the sale because he was with a girl who appeared to be under 16. He told employees she was his sister. He later reentered the store and tried to buy the alcohol, but the employees denied the sale. He repeatedly called the store, threatening employees and swearing at them. He was trespassed from the store.

Saturday, July 19

  • Officers were dispatched at 9:15 p.m. to 405 S. Wasson Lane for a woman who lit a firework in her apartment and threw it out the window toward a woman and 10-year-old child. The complainant said the same woman had thrown rocks and flowerpots at them the week prior. Police noticed a tear in the suspect’s screen on the second floor. The suspect, Madelyn Grace Kloos, 39, River Falls, denied throwing the firework and claimed a man had taken it from her apartment and thrown it. The complainants didn’t know why she would have thrown it at them and said it was shooting off sparks when she threw it. Kloos also admitted that her flowerpots and rocks had disappeared but denied throwing them. She was arrested for second-degree recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct and two felony bail jumping charges. Officers transported her to Pierce County Jail.
  • A complainant reported his black and red Liv Avail AR 3 road bike stolen at 1:20 p.m. from Sterling Hills Disc Golf (210 Huppert St.)

 

Tuesday, July 22

  • At 1:28 p.m., police were dispatched to 622 Sunset Lane for a man found unresponsive outside in the bushes. The neighbors, who had started CPR, told police they had found the 76-year-old man flat on his back. EMS transported the man to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
  • Officers responded at 4:45 p.m. to 543 Hamilton Court for a dispute over property and pets. A man reported that a woman violated her court conditions by being belligerent and using foul language when picking up the dogs for a scheduled visitation. She told police she was upset because the man wouldn’t give her access to her storage unit. Police documented the incident and referred a misdemeanor bail jumping charge to the district attorney’s office.
  • Police were notified of a two-vehicle crash at 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of 1204 Bartosh Lane between a 2014 Jeep Compass, driven by Zachary Cameron Wayne, 24, North St. Paul, Minn., and a 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz, driven by Amy Lynn Benoy, 49, River Falls. Benoy was entering the parking lot as Wayne was exiting a parking stall. Neither driver saw the other because of a large truck in the way. The Jeep had functional damage, while the Santa Cruz was towed due to disabling damage. No injuries were reported.

 

Wednesday, July 23

  • Evan Leander Alan Rank, 25, River Falls, was arrested and cited $500 for OWI-second after a traffic stop for operating without taillights at 12:59 a.m. at Main and Park streets. Rank smelled of alcohol and told police he had come from Emma’s Bar, where he had beers and a shot of Crown Peach. After performing field sobriety tests, he registered a BAC level of .129. He was arrested, brought to the hospital for a blood draw and given a courtesy ride home to Birch Street. He was cooperative throughout the entire contact.
  • Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 4:38 p.m. in the parking lot of 1525 Commerce Court between a 2016 Chevy 2500, driven by Megan Brooke Shaw, 30, Indianapolis, Ind., and a legally parked 2025 International truck/tractor, owned by United Foods Inc., Shaw struck the truck, which was parked across the lot behind her, when backing out of her parking stall. Both vehicles had minor damage. No injuries were reported.
  • Officers were dispatched at 6:27 p.m. to a possible domestic disturbance at 608 N. Pearl St. reported by a third party. A couple admitted to arguing over nail polish. The man said he wanted the woman to leave because she had an attitude. Both parties agreed to separate for the night.
  • Police were called to a harassment/stalking complaint at 8:02 p.m. at Tattersall (1777 Paulson Road). A woman relayed that she had broken up with a 61-year-old man who was jealous and controlling. She believed he may have put a tracker on her vehicle because he always seemed to know where she was. He continuously video-called her, sent threatening letters and texts to her family and friends and accused her of cheating. Officers contacted the suspect, who admitted to placing a tracker in the woman’s spare tire area of her vehicle. Police advised him the tracker would be removed and he should no longer contact her or risk charges being filed. The woman was advised to notify St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office of the tracking device if she wanted to pursue charges.

 

Thursday, July 24

  • At 1 p.m., officers assisted Pierce County Sheriff’s Office in locating a stolen trailer hauling a derby car. They found the trailer parked next to Glass Express in the 100 block of East Maple Street. A suspect was identified.
  • Officers responded at 4:10 p.m. to 543 Hamilton Court to speak to a complainant about a civil issue. A man reported a potential restraining order violation, but nothing indicated one occurred.
  • Police were dispatched at 10:29 p.m. to a disturbance at a home in the 1500 block of West Maple Street. A man told police his vulnerable adult daughter had been communicating with an unknown male via TikTok and other platforms, which was concerning due to her diagnosed mental health conditions. She was also upset about not having access to her graduation and birthday money, so she refused to leave her parents’ bedroom after they took her phone away. Officers spoke to all involved and determined the woman could remain in the home for the evening if she remained calm.

Friday, July 25

  • Police received a complaint at 10:18 a.m. from a woman staying at Turningpoint about repeated contact from her ex-boyfriend, a 73-year-old Oakdale, Minn. man. She believed he was accessing her bank accounts and changing the passwords, messing with her sleep number bed and she shared voicemails with police he had left. Officers contacted him and advised him to cease the contact immediately. He denied making any contact and said the woman was delusional. Police forwarded a violate domestic abuse temporary restraining order charge to the district attorney’s office for review. The woman expressed dissatisfaction in how police were handling her complaints and the repeated harassment with no consequences.
  • Officers responded to a trespassing call at 11:39 a.m. at Ptacek’s (1121 S. Main St.) The store’s owner confronted Kimberly Marie Huldane, 64, Prescott, and told her she had 30 seconds to leave the store after finding her in the medicine aisle. She had been trespassed from the store for stealing Mucinex. Police found her across the street at Kwik Trip. She admitted being at Ptacek’s to steal Mucinex due to her addiction. She was cited $187 for violating a trespass notice.
  • Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at 12:51 p.m. on Main Street just north of Walnut Street between a 2014 Frht M2 straight truck, driven by Mark Jon Hartman, 57, Chippewa Falls, and a 2017 Honda Pilot, driven by Alexandra Leigh Shoemaker, 34, River Falls. Hartman was backing into a loading zone on Main Street, while Shoemaker was traveling southbound. Hartman’s truck bumped into Shoemaker’s front end, causing minor damage. Hartman said a UPS truck was obscuring his view. No injurie were reported.
  • Officers were dispatched to conduct a welfare check at 2:34 p.m. at 209 S. Third St. A man there hadn’t seen or heard from his 56-year-old roommate in five days. His roommate, who was a habitual coffee drinker, had used his coffee maker in days. He had a history of health problems, including diabetes, a collapsed lung and circulation issues. Police called the man and could hear his phone ringing in his locked bedroom. Police broke into the room and found the man on the floor near his bed. He had been dead for some time. The medical examiner deemed the death to be from natural causes.

Saturday, July 26

At 10:38 p.m., a man pulled up to a police squad parked in the lot at 406 Second St. and asked the officer where a good place to park his car and drink beer was. His speech was slow and many of his statements didn’t make sense. His movements were lethargic and he had poor dexterity. When he stepped out of the car to do field sobriety tests, he was swaying. He told police they could follow him while he drove home. Wyatt Benjamin Tupper, 21, River Falls, refused to take a Breathalyzer test and asked for a lawyer. He was arrested and cited $986 for OWI. A sober driver picked him up at RFPD and agreed to take responsibility for him.       

Sunday, July 27

  • At 6:43 p.m., a man reported a gift bag containing a $100 Dunham’s gift card had been stolen from his vehicle July 23 while he was parked at Tattersall (1777 Paulson Road). He said the truck’s windows were open and the truck was unlocked at the time of the theft. He was at Tattersall with a friend, whose ex-boyfriend was arrested that night for placing a tracking device in her vehicle, which police found. He believed the ex-boyfriend was responsible for theft. The suspect denied taking the items and told police to talk to his attorney.
  • Haley Kay Roisum, 34, Hudson, was arrested and cited $986 for OWI and $986 for operating with PAC after a traffic stop for operating without taillights at 9:03 p.m. at Main Street and Paulson Road. Roisum told police she’d been having dinner at West Wind. She was uncooperative when asked for her phone number and didn’t immediately step out of the vehicle when asked. She smelled heavily of alcohol and was slurring her words. She claimed not to know how long she’d been at West Wind or with whom. She registered a .196 BAC after completing field sobriety tests. After her arrest and booking, she was released to her father.

Tuesday, July 29

  • Theft of copper tubing and wires was reported at 8:19 a.m. at 1496 Pebble Trail. Several main electric wires had also been cut, just above the main circuit breaker. The complainant believed it may have been another contractor who did it, out of spite. The cost of the missing copper was $1,000 while the labor to replace the wiring was $4,000.
  • At 9:03 a.m., police assisted St. Croix County deputies with a property damage complaint at 37 Pine Ridge Terrace. All four tires on a trailer parked at a job site had been punctured in the sidewalls, making them irreparable. There are no suspects.
  • At 12:21 p.m., the owner of Snappy Dog Foods USA (265 Mound View Road Ste. 7) reported fraud committed by a former employee. He accused a 51-year-old woman hired to do accounting work of using the company card and checkbook to make $5,000-$10,000 in unauthorized transactions, which she admitted to. The case remains under investigation.
  • Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 3:17 p.m. in the 700 block of South Main Street between a 2017 Chevy Silverado, driven by Thomas Lee Sanders, 74, Windom, Minn., and a 2018 Chevy Equinox, driven by Ashleymae Sky Roy, 23, River Falls. Both vehicles were heading south on Main Street. Roy moved into the center turn lane and Sanders continued straight. Roy struck Sanders’ driver’s side while swinging wide to turn into a driveway. Both vehicles had minor damage. Neither driver nor Sanders’ passenger Thadius James Fleenor, 23, Montgomery, Minn., reported injuries.
  • At 5:23 p.m., a local 4-H club reported their Pierce County Fair sign had been stolen from 504 S. Main St. where it had been placed with the property owner’s permission out of the city right-of-way. The painted sign had been displayed at that location for years during county fair season; the thief left the stakes behind that kept the sign upright. The cost for the sign was estimated at $80, plus hours of labor by the kids. There are no suspects.

Wednesday, July 30

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 6:39 p.m. on Highway 35 southbound just north of Hoffman Place between a 2022 Chevy Spark, driven by Levi Daniel Carrell, 47, River Falls, and a 2016 Jeep Wrangler, driven by David Brian Everson, 27, River Falls. Both vehicles were traveling southbound on Highway 35 when Everson struck Carrell from behind and pushed his vehicle toward the oncoming lane while going highway speeds. Carrell swerved back into his lane when Everson struck him from behind again. Everson claimed Carrell had brake-checked him, but Carrell said he wasn’t even aware of the Jeep behind him until they were hit (his 12-year-old son was also in the vehicle). Everson was slurring his words and giving officers one-word answers. At first, he told officers he’d had nothing to drink, then said he’d been sampling wine at work, then admitted to drinking at a bar. He stumbled when getting out of his vehicle to perform field sobriety tests and registered a BAC level of .237. He was arrested and cited $986 for OWI, $986 for operating with PAC and $124 for automobile following too closely. The Jeep had minor damage while the Chevy had functional damage. Carrell and his son reported possible injuries from their seat belts and sought medical attention on their own. Everson reported no injuries.           

Thursday, July 31

  • Marshall William Petrie, 30, River Falls, was arrested and cited $200 for operate without valid license (second within three years) after a traffic stop for an inoperable taillight at 9:38 p.m. at Main and Maple streets. After booking, an officer provided him a courtesy ride home.
  • A 16-year-old Ellsworth juvenile was cited $73.60 for possessing tobacco/nicotine as a minor and $250 for resisting or obstructing an officer after a traffic stop for operating without taillights at 10:58 p.m. at Main and Park streets. The vehicle smelled of marijuana. Inside, police found a camouflage zip bag containing multiple containers of nicotine vape juice. Officers also found a locked gun safe that the boy denied owning. However, police were able to open the safe using the boy’s birthdate. Inside they located three electronic cigarettes and five containers of vape juice. Officers informed the boy’s father of their findings.

Friday, Aug. 1

  • Isaiah Goodwin Brown, 26, River Falls, was cited $124 for urinating in public at 1:43 a.m. in the 100 block of South Main Street.
  • Police were asked to conduct a welfare check at 1:10 a.m. on a woman at 353 Nicole Lane. The neighbors were concerned after hearing loud banging coming from the woman’s apartment. Police knocked on the door and called her multiple times but couldn’t get her to answer. They told the complainant they would forward a report to the ADRC due to the woman’s age and possible health concerns. The complainant called police again at 2 a.m. after hearing what sounded like someone falling down the stairs. After repeated knocking, the woman came to the door. She seemed very confused and denied banging on anything. She admitted to drinking and exhibited serious signs of possible dementia. As police were talking to her neighbor, she came outside and yelled at the neighbor to mind her own business. Police informed a family member of the interaction.
  • At 4:10 p.m., police were informed of a custody dispute occurring at 121 N. Fremont St. A woman was angry her ex was there early to pick up the children and told police she would not be releasing the children to him at the appointment time. She also told police she was sick of how they handle things and ripped a “thin blue line” sticker off her vehicle as a “peaceful protest.” The father said he was there early to ensure he wasn’t late. When told she was refusing to release the children, he said he’d file a grievance at the courthouse on Monday.
