River Falls Police Department reports: March 18-23, 2025

The following incidents were reported to River Falls Police Department Feb. 18-23.

Wednesday, Feb. 19

Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 5:25 p.m. at Second and Locust streets between a 2005 Chevy Malibu, driven by Nina Marie Allen, 41, River Falls, and a 2013 Chrysler 200, driven by Leslie Lynn Benoy, 66, River Falls. Allen, traveling east on Locust, stopped at the stop sign. Benoy was heading west on Locust Street and stopped at the intersection as well. Allen had the right-of-way and began to make a right turn. Benoy began to make a left turn at the same time and struck the driver’s side of Allen’s vehicle. Both vehicles had minor damage. No injuries were reported.

 

Thursday, Feb. 20

  • At 12:10 a.m., police pulled over a vehicle for speeding and crossing the center line on Main Street heading toward Powell Avenue. The driver, Nikolas Charles Johnson, 32, River Falls, said he was heading home from dart league. He smelled heavily of alcohol, slurred his speech and had bloodshot eyes. After performing field sobriety tests and registering a .153 BAC, Johnson was arrested and cited $986 for OWI and $986 for operating with PAC. After booking, he was released to his mother.
  • At 10:30 a.m., the property manager at Campusview Real Estate (1234 S. Wasson Lane) asked that Timothy M. Cariveau, 26, River Falls, be trespassed from the property due to multiple tenant complaints over the past few months. Complaints included a man with a black mask wandering near the wood line at 1077 E. Cascade Ave.; a man dressed in black with a black ski mask walking around the parking lot and looking into cars at 1071 E. Cascade Ave.; a man approaching a woman while wearing a black ski mask at 596 Birchcrest St.; a man wearing all black, plus the ski mask, walking in residents’ yards and hiding behind trees on Birch Street (police found him and gave him a warning); a man wearing a black mask going to a woman’s door at 1077 E. Cascade Ave. and asking her and her roommates if they wanted to play a game; a man in a black mask looking in apartment windows at 1077 E. Cascade Ave. Cariveau is trespassed from multiple Campusview properties.
  • Police were notified of an animal complaint at 5:48 p.m. at 1485 Wildcat Court #108. A complainant wanted a stray cat removed from the area that had been hanging around for two months. When he and his girlfriend live trapped the cat, it bit her several times drawing blood. The cat was collected and taken to a veterinary hospital to quarantine. The owner was not located.
  • Officers were dispatched at 7:20 p.m. to Coratel Inn & Suites (1207 St. Croix St.) for an unwanted subject who walked into a room without paying. Police arrested Leon Antione McKinney, 45, St. Paul, for a Department of Corrections felony extradition warrant. On his person police located a broken pipe and tinfoil scraps containing methamphetamine. He was taken to St. Croix County Jail, where he was booked for felony bail jumping and possession of methamphetamine. In the room McKinney had stayed in the previous night, police found trash everywhere, including cigarette butts and meth residue on the furniture. Staff were advised to use caution when cleaning the room.

 

Friday, Feb. 21

  • Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 6:59 a.m. at Main Street and Cascade Avenue between a 2009 Chevy Cobalt, driven by Matthew Sherman Schierenbeck, 19, Eau Claire, and a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, driven by Danielle Renaye Gilbertson, 38, River Falls. Schierenbeck was traveling east on Cascade nearing the stoplights, while Gilbertson was heading south on Main Street. As she was making a left-hand turn onto Cascade Avenue, Schierenbeck misjudged the stop line and proceeded into the intersection, striking her. He hadn’t fully scraped his windshield. The Chevy had functional damage, while the Chrysler was towed due to disabling damage. No injuries were reported. Schierenbeck was cited $98.80 for operator violate red traffic light.
  • A 15-year-old River Falls juvenile was cited $86.20 for minor possesses tobacco/nicotine (second offense) at 11:49 a.m. at River Falls High School (818 Cemetery Road.
  • Grant Daniel Goskey, 27, Little Canada, Minn., was arrested and cited $986 for OWI and $986 for operating with PAC after a traffic stop for operating without taillights at 11:54 p.m. at Spring and Main streets. When police approached the vehicle, they heard Goskey tell the passenger, “I’m going to jail.” He had already taken the keys out of the ignition and given them to the passenger. Goskey said they’d been at the bars and were trying to get to their kids. He refused to complete field sobriety tests or take a Breathalyzer. Once inside the squad, he kicked the door until police told him to knock it off. Officers took him to the hospital after obtaining a warrant for a blood draw. Then he was transported to Pierce County Jail, where he registered a .194 BAC.

Saturday, Feb. 22

  • Ryan Andrew Phipps, 25, River Falls, was arrested and cited $986 for operating with PAC, $986 for OWI and $187 for possession of THC after a traffic stop for operating without headlights or taillights at 2:38 a.m. at Main and Cedar streets. Phipps said he was coming from Shooter’s. After performing field sobriety tests, he registered a .174 BAC. Police also located a THC vape in his pocket and three more in the vehicle. He was arrested, booked and released to his mother without incident.
  • At 8:24 a.m., a father requested a welfare check on his 3-month-old child at an apartment at 1470 Cemetery Road. He said he’d fled the home after a 5 a.m. domestic between him and the baby’s mother, who took his keys and ripped his shirt off. No one answered the door or phone. The complainant told officers the mother had been drinking vodka the night before and had gotten out of hand, so he fled. Police asked the property manager to let them into the apartment, out of concern for the baby, but no one was there. They located the woman and child at a nearby friend’s home. She had a different story, saying the complainant was the one who was drunk and hitting her. She also accused him of breaking her phone. Officers didn’t smell alcohol on either person and both declined to write statements. CPS was informed of the situation.
  • At 9:50 a.m., a complainant at 739 Valley View Drive reported someone had hacked into their bank account and taken $6,000. They later learned it had been a clerical error, not a transaction.
  • Police responded at 2:14 p.m. to 1973 Greenwood Valley Drive for a found Black Lab. Police located the owners, who said they forgot to put the shock collar on the dog before letting him outside.

 

Sunday, Feb. 23

  • Police were dispatched at 2:55 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash in the Kwik Trip (1238 N. Main St.) parking lot between a 2005 Chevy Tahoe, driven by Matthew Adam Green-Robinson, 26, River Falls, and a 2006 Toyota Camry, driven by Kayla L. Wilbur, 32, River Falls. Green-Robinson was pulling away from the pumps to head southbound through the lot when he struck Wilbur’s driver’s side as it was heading eastbound through the lot. Green-Robinson said he didn’t see Wilbur. The Tahoe had minor damage, while the Toyota had functional damage. No injuries were reported.
  • Officers responded to a dog bite at 3:20 p.m. at 981 Fairchild Drive. The man said a large, white fluffy dog bit him in the butt while he was walking on the Division Street/Meadows Drive trail near the pond. He was advised to seek medical treatment, as the dog left a puncture wound. The owner was not identied.
