  • Police were dispatched at 12:43 a.m. to Kwik Trip (1536 Cemetery Road) for a possible drunk driver who had stumbled to her car. Police located the vehicle and followed it north on Highway 65. It took the off ramp to Main Street then turned onto the on ramp leading back to southbound Highway 65, all while swerving in its lane. Police pulled the vehicle over before it got back onto Highway 65. The driver, identified as Lakeisha L. Christopher, 39, St. Paul, had an orange substance all over her hands which she said was food. She said she was heading to her boyfriend’s house after drinking at Johnnie’s. She at first refused to do field sobriety tests and asked if her boyfriend could pick her since she wasn’t a “threat,” but then consented to the tests. Police weren’t able to get sufficient breath for a breath test, so applied for a warrant for a blood draw. While in the squad, Christopher muttered she wouldn’t be in this mess if her “white ass farmer boyfriend” had just picked her up. She was booked, cited $986 for OWI and released to her boyfriend.
