The following incidents were reported to River Falls Police Department Oct. 29-Nov. 23, 2025.

Wednesday, Oct. 29

  • Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 9:03 a.m. in the roundabout at Sixth Street and Cascade Avenue between a 2012 Chevy Malibu, driven by Madison Gordina Welsh, 20, Dennison, Minn., and a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Jadyn Lindsey Krusa, 20, Wittenberg. Krusa was navigating the roundabout when Welsh failed to yield, entered the roundabout and Krusa struck her. Both vehicles had minor damage. No injuries were reported. Welsh was cited $98.80 for fail/yield for yield sign.
  • Officers were dispatched at 3:41 p.m. to River Falls Mini Storage (262 Summit St.) for a welfare check. The storage unit manager saw someone on surveillance video laying on the ground not moving. When he checked on the woman, she was not breathing, there was blood around her head and a gun was nearby. Police confirmed through evidence at the scene and video footage that the 63-year-old woman had shot herself in the mouth and died by suicide. Her family was notified; no foul play is suspected.

Thursday, Oct. 30

Police were dispatched to a civil matter at 11:46 a.m. at 843 Pine Ridge Terrace. A woman said she had hired Minnesota Rusco to remodel her bathroom for a cost of $15,000. She had provided a down payment of $7,578 in August and the company had contacted her a week ago to confirm the materials had been ordered and work would begin that week. However, the company filed for bankruptcy. Police informed her of a Contractor Recovery Fund managed by the Minnesota Department of Labor, which may provide financial compensation for customers affected by contractor bankruptcies. Police advised her to contact the Clerk of Courts in St. Croix County to inquire about the small claims process.

Monday, Nov. 10

  • Officers responded to a vehicle theft at 3:36 p.m. at 1440 Cemetery Road. A woman and her son reported a 2008 Nissan Altima had disappeared from a garage that had no signs of forced entry. The complainant said she parked the car in the garage at 4 p.m. Nov. 6, went away for the weekend, and noticed the car was missing Nov. 10. Police located the vehicle in a different garage Nov. 20 after reviewing video surveillance from a nearby Kwik Trip. The woman had parked in the wrong garage (of a vacant apartment) and didn’t realize it.
  • Peter Vladmir Relling, 22, Shoreview, Minn., was arrested and cited $500 for OWI-second, $124 for operate without valid license, $149.20 for speeding on city highway, $187 for possession of THC and $124 for exhibition of power after a traffic stop for squealing his tires, accelerating and speeding 49 mph at Main and Locust streets. Relling said he was in the area driving around because an ex-girlfriend lives in River Falls. Police saw open alcohol seltzer cans in his vehicle, along with a grinder. Relling said he’d been drinking at Mel’s and smoking weed. After field sobriety tests and registering a .176 BAC, he was arrested, taken to the hospital for a blood draw, booked and released to a sober person.

Saturday, Nov. 15

An anonymous caller reported an out-of-control fire in a backyard at 9:51 a.m. at 122 S. Fourth St. Police found a metal fire ring with a smoldering log and a lawn chair that had been fully engulfed in flames. Police knocked on the door but no one answered. They took a hose at the scene and doused the fire with water. A man came outside at that point and said he’d been involved with the party the night before but didn’t want to take responsibility for the fire due to it possibly affecting his future employment. Another resident, Emily Mae Henderson, 20, Oronoco, Minn., agreed to take responsibility and was cited $98.80 for burning waste and refuse.

Tuesday, Nov. 18

  • Police were dispatched at 9:23 p.m. to Kwik Trip (1200 S. Main St.) for a group of intoxicated women being loud and annoying. Police located them at 432 Griffey St. The driver, Clarrissa Marranda Ann Massey, 33, River Falls, said she had driven her 40-year-old friend, who was extremely intoxicated, and her 13-year-old son to get her son chips. She said she’d had one shot earlier but registered a .215 BAC. She was arrested and cited $500 for OWI-first (with passenger < 16) and taken to Pierce County Jail. Her friend was taken to her mother’s house, so she wasn’t around the women’s children, intoxicated. The children remained with one of the fathers, who was sober. CPS was also informed of the situation in which the women were highly intoxicated in front of their kids.
  • Emma Jean Bell, 18, River Falls, was cited $187 for habitual truancy at 10:03 a.m. at Renaissance Charter Academy (1355 Sunshine Ave.)

Wednesday, Nov. 19

  • Troy Shannon Larnson, 57, River Falls, was arrested and cited $250 for operating while revoked after a traffic stop for speeding at 6:39 a.m. at Wasson Lane and Wildcat Court.
  • Benjamin Todd Manns, 19, River Falls, was trespassed at 11:30 a.m. from Coratel Inn (1207 St. Croix St.) for failing to pay for 11 days’ worth of hotel stays. The hotel staff said Manns had been sneaking into an employee bed area as well. Police located Manns in his vehicle in the Dunkin’ parking lot.
  • Police responded to a verbal disturbance at 7:07 p.m. at 2367 Rangeview Lane. A couple was fighting about relationship issues. The man agreed to leave and stay elsewhere for the night.
  • Officers were dispatched at 8:11 p.m. to 403 Wasson Court for a hit and run crash. A 2017 Jeep Cherokee had struck the unoccupied 2022 Ram 1500, owned by off-duty River Falls police officer, causing significant damage. He then fled the scene. Pierce County deputies took over the investigation and located the Jeep and driver, Victor A. Gualan Contento, 41, River Falls, at 906 State St. The Jeep had significant front-end damage and Gualan Contento was highly intoxicated. Officers arrested Gualan Contento and transported him to Pierce County Jail.
  • Police responded to a one-vehicle crash at 10:46 p.m. on South Wasson Lane just south of Wildcat Court. A 2011 Honda Accord, driven by Kristin Marie Nappin, 43, River Falls, swerved to avoid hitting a deer, drove onto the grass for about 250-500 feet and struck a no parking signpost. Her vehicle had moderate damage. Nappin nor her 13-year-old passenger reported injuries. She was cited $136.60 for failure to keep vehicle under control.

Thursday, Nov. 20

Police were dispatched at 11:53 p.m. to 320 Roosevelt St. to conduct a welfare check on an intoxicated man. Officers found blood on the door and it appeared he had broken into the garage to get to alcohol. EMS arrived and evaluated the man, who had a BAC level of .404. His Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor and friends and parents were enroute to provide support. He declined being taken to the hospital.

Friday, Nov. 21

  • At 4:08 a.m., a 2004 Honda CRV, driven by Joyce Kay Maldonado, 63, Ellsworth, struck a deer on Highway 35 northbound just south of the Main Street/Highway 65 overpass. Her vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Maldonado said she missed two deer but struck the last one of the bunch, which was found dead in a nearby pond. No injuries were reported.
  • Police responded to an illegal dumping complaint at 9:32 a.m. at 1431 Wildcat Court. Someone had dumped a couch on the building’s south side the night before at 10:28 p.m. Video surveillance didn’t capture the vehicle’s license plate number.
  • Officers were dispatched at 9:44 a.m. to Renaissance Charter Academy (1355 Sunshine Ave.) for a juvenile who ran away from staff. Officers located the juvenile in Halverson Park by using a drone. She returned to the school with her teacher.
  • Police conducted a welfare check on a 73-year-old woman with the ADRC at 1:53 p.m. at an apartment at 315 River St. The woman’s family and doctor had concerns about her dementia diagnosis, hygiene, alcohol use and possible financial exploitation. The woman agreed to use services and seemed open to help.

Saturday, Nov. 22

Officers responded to a one-vehicle crash at 10:15 a.m. on Riverside Drive at Paulson Road. A 2008 Ford Focus, driven by Christina Cordelia Lee, 53, River Falls, was heading east on Riverside Drive when her brakes failed. She lost control of the vehicle and struck a retaining wall belonging to McDonald’s. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Lee reported possible injuries but was not transported. She was cited $98.80 for operate motor vehicle without capable brakes.

Sunday, Nov. 23

  • Police were dispatched at 8:32 a.m. to East Golf View Park (1388 Golf View Drive) for an abandoned 1997 Ford F-250 that had been seen doing donuts on the soccer field, which caused damage. The truck had no license plates, visible damage to the ignition and a blown out rear driver’s side tire. The registered owner, Michael Anthony Swen, 18, Hammond, claimed the truck had been stolen from a bonfire the night before at 1655 200th, New Richmond. He later admitted to doing the damage at the soccer field along with a couple of his friends. He was cited $250 for resist/obstruct officer, $250 for criminal damage to property and $124 for exhibition of power. A 16-year-old Ellsworth juvenile was also cited $250 for resist/obstruct an officer after lying to officers.
  • At 12:09 p.m., police responded to 3233 Derby St. for a fraud complaint. A woman stated someone had used her information to try to make purchases with Verizon. She wanted the incident documented. She was not out any money.
