River Falls Police Department reports: Sept. 9-15, 2025

The following incidents were reported to River Falls Police Department Sept. 9-15, 2025.
Tuesday, Sept. 9
Police were notified of a vehicle vs. building crash at 11:27 a.m. at 1242 Bartosh Lane. A 2011 GMC Sierra, driven by Isaiah John Randall, 23, Wilson, struck a garage door while backing into a parking spot. Randall said he didn’t know he hit the garage door. The vehicle had no damage. Randall reported no injuries.
At 2:59 p.m., police responded to Kwik Trip (1238 N. Main St.) for a theft report. While doing inventory, staff discovered discrepancies, especially with missing protein bars. They saw a female suspect on surveillance video stuffing protein bars in her purse on multiple occasions. The thefts totaled at least $30.21. Police identified the woman as Tara Lee Langer, 37, River Falls. She admitted to the thefts and said she was trying to pay off student loans. She was cited $187 for retail theft – intentionally conceal and trespassed from Kwik Trip.
A 16-year-old River Falls juvenile was cited $691 for failure to stop for school bus after a traffic incident at 3:10 p.m. at Cemetery and Southridge roads.
Officers arrested Olaf Greg Nelson, 26, River Falls, at 6:05 p.m. at 1875 Paulson Road when he turned himself in for a St. Croix County civil bench warrant. He had missed a Sept. 3 firearms surrender hearing. He was transported to St. Croix County Jail without incident.
At 9:30 p.m., police were advised of a trespassing/suspicious activity complaint at 511 E. Johnson St. Around 5:40 p.m., a woman noticed someone had unlocked her back gate. Later that evening, she found the padlock on a small shed missing. It looked like someone had been inside the shed, moving things around. Two days later, she called police when she realized a red gas can was missing with about $20 of gas inside. The case remains unsolved.
Wednesday, Sept. 10
At 12:40 p.m., the school resource officer was notified of a River Falls High School (818 Cemetery Road) student returning from the bathroom smelling of marijuana. The 17-year-old had a tobacco vape and a THC vape on his person. He was cited $98.80 for minor possesses or purchases tobacco/nicotine (third) and $187 for possession of THC. He said he uses both to cope with depression and anxiety. The counseling team was involved with the incident.
Arol Ambrose Thompson, 18, River Falls, was cited $136.60 for unreasonable and imprudent speed after a traffic stop at 7:15 p.m. for going about 80 mph on the off ramp from Highway 35 to Main Street.
Thursday, Sept. 11
Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at 12:10 p.m. in the parking lot of 320 N. Main St. between a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, driven by Steven Rodney Kinneman, 66, Hager City, and a 2015 Chevy Equinox, driven by Joseph Carl Spoden Jr., 21, Hudson. Kinneman backed out of a spot and struck Spoden’s vehicle, causing minor damage to the Subaru and moderate damage to the Chevy. No injuries were reported.
Police responded to a hit and run at 6:30 p.m. at Meyer Middle School (230 N. Ninth St.) Wyatt D. Kreutzer, 47, Menomonie, said he’d parked his 2016 Chevy Silverado in the lot at 4 p.m. and returned at 6 p.m. to find damage and a note left by a witness who had seen a Chevy Impala back into the Silverado and leave the scene. The witness took a photo of the Impala and its license plate. The other driver moved to a different spot in the lot. Frank Edmond Shuman, 70, River Falls, was cited $187 for hit and run – unattended vehicle and $124 for operate motor vehicle without insurance. When police went to Shuman’s house, they found damage to the Impala. Both occupants denied knowing about the crash, but the witness had allegedly heard them discussing it in the parking lot. Both vehicles had minor damage.
At 8:02 p.m., police were dispatched to a property damage complaint at 121 S. Fourth St. A man said at 8 a.m., he had found his trailer hitch lock lying on the ground with visible pry marks on the lock. The cost to replace it was estimated at $35-$40.
Friday, Sept. 12
Kaelyn Rose Nelson, 22, Monticello, Minn., and Peter Allan Glassbrenner, 56, Spring Valley, were each cited $691 for failure to stop for a school bus after a traffic incident at 7:10 a.m. at Main and Union streets.
A 15-year-old River Falls juvenile was cited $73.60 for minor possesses or purchases tobacco/nicotine after being found with a vape in class at 10:46 a.m. at River Falls High School. He was also suspended for three days and his coach informed of the athletic code violation.
Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at 3:48 p.m. at Main and Union streets between a 2012 Infiniti G37, driven by Mariah Lanay Stoddard, 30, Amery, and a 2012 Subaru Outback, driven by Emily Kathryn McNally, 22, River Falls. McNally rear-ended Stoddard when she stopped for a pedestrian crosswalk, causing minor damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported. McNally was cited $124 for automobile following too closely.
At 7:57 p.m., police were asked to conduct a welfare check on a 23-year-old man making concerning comments on YouTube videos. He told police people have been trying to spiritually hurt him and stalk him. He accused music artists Suicideboys and K-Rino of sending him subliminal messages through their music, harassing him, making satanic music about him and paying people to stalk him. He said he would be seeing a therapist in two weeks and denied wanting to hurt himself or others.
Saturday, Sept. 13
Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at 11:17 a.m. at Main and Division streets between a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by David Michael Gilbraith, 69, River Falls, and a 2022 Chevy Equinox, driven by Theresa Mae Atwood, 40, Cottage Grove, Minn. Galbraith rear-ended Atwood, who was stopped at the traffic light, when his foot accidentally hit the gas and brake pedals. The Hyundai had minor damage while the Chevy had moderate damage. No injuries were reported.
Officers were called at 6:42 p.m. to 512 S. Dallas St. for a 67-year-old man who had collapsed after becoming overheated during a walk and hit his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving measures. The medical examiner reported signs of cardiac arrest.
Sunday, Sept. 14
Mariana Therese Schmidt, 26, River Falls, was arrested and cited $986 for OWI and $986 for operating with PAC after a traffic stop for swerving in her lane at 12:56 a.m. at Main Street and Quarry Road. Schmidt said she and her husband had been drinking whiskey at Johnnie’s after a visit to the racetrack in New Richmond. She had trouble with dexterity when asked for her insurance information and trouble balancing. She smelled of alcohol. After performing field sobriety tests and registering a .17 BAC, police had probable cause for arrest. She was uncooperative during the booking process, trying to remove her clothing and jewelry. When transported to St. Croix County Jail, she refused to exit the squad and said her “Vatican rights” were being violated. Jail staff had to forcibly remove her from the vehicle.
Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at 12:38 p.m. at Main Street and Cascade Avenue between a 2017 Subaru Outback, driven by Jesse Edward Barton, 43, River Falls, and a 2005 Ford Focus, driven by a 17-year-old Hudson juvenile. Barton was traveling east on Cascade approaching the Main Street traffic light, planning to turn north onto Main Street. The juvenile was heading west on Cascade, proceeding straight through the intersection with a green light. Barton failed to yield the right of way, crossed in front of the juvenile and was struck. Both vehicles had moderate damage. No injuries were reported. Barton was cited $98.80 for failure to yield – green signal.
Monday, Sept. 15
Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at 8:58 a.m. in the 300 block of South Main Street. A 2006 Pontiac Torrent, driven by Abigail Rose Klenke, 21, Bay City, rear-ended a 2012 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Erick Leandro Pullaguari Lozano, 24, Hudson, when he stopped for a pedestrian. The Pontiac had moderate damage while the Elantra had minor damage. Neither driver nor passenger (in Pullaguari Lozano’s vehicle) Marco Fabian Guacho Guaman, 40, River Falls, reported injuries. Klenke was cited $124 for automobile following too closely. Pullaguari Lozano was arrested and cited $250 for operating while revoked (alcohol related) and $124 for operate motor vehicle without insurance.
Evan Michael Mahar, 32, River Falls, was cited $187 for disorderly conduct after sending threatening text messages to employees at Nutty Squirrel (110 S. Main St.) where he had been fired. He was also seen driving near the business and admitted to leaving bad Google reviews for the business because he felt he’d been treated unfairly. He was told to stay away from the business and officially trespassed.
Police arrested Cody Graham Buschmann, 18, River Falls, for a probation warrant and possess drug paraphernalia shortly after 2:30 p.m. at 603 Lake St. Buschmann is a suspect in a stolen rifle case but denied having the gun. When police arrived at the house, they saw him run from the house to a vehicle parked out front. It looked like he was attempting to flee the premises after being tipped off by someone that police were coming. After he was taken into custody, police spoke to the vehicle’s driver; the vehicle smelled of marijuana so a search was conducted. Drug paraphernalia was located in the vehicle and in Buschmann’s room, but there was no gun. That case remains under investigation.
