Sherolyn Lee Baker, 76, of Sycamore, Ill., passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, at home, surrounded by her family.
Born Aug. 8, 1946, in Prescott, Wis., the daughter of LeRoy G. and Florence (Louden) Beeler, Sherolyn married Dr. Richard E. Baker on April 5, 1968, in Prescott, Wis. A graduate of Prescott High School and Northern Illinois University, she worked in the Academic Computing Department at NIU until retirement.
A three-time cancer survivor, Sherolyn enjoyed being with her grandchildren and travel. Her favorite places were Hawaii and Alaska, but she also enjoyed trips to many other worldwide locations with her husband and sister. Her hobbies included genealogy, quilting and she often volunteered at the Joiner History Room at the Sycamore Library.
Sherolyn is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Jason (Gina) of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Steven (Yunmi) of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Matthew, Mitchell, Michael, Kyle, and Mina; siblings, Alan (Diane) Beeler and Dana Harris; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Memorial visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 11 in Sycamore, Ill. Friends and family are invited to her Celebration of Life from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 at Ptacek’s Event Center in Prescott.
