The processes include enzymatic and non-enzymatic digestion, wet processing, spray drying and dry blending of animal feed ingredients. The wastewater generated at this facility that is treated and discharged at Outfall 001 consists of process wastewater (average of 12.4 million gallons per year, MGY in 2020), boiler blowdown (2 boilers) (0.5 MGY updated 2016), laboratory wastewater, water softener regeneration wastewater and non-contact cooling water (1.0 MGY updated 2016) and storm water (3.0 MGY updated 2016). The wastewater is pretreated on-site using an aerated pond and two primary settling ponds prior to land disposal in one of two absorption ponds. The actual ________________________________________________________________ 2020 was 12.4 million gallons. Sludge is removed from the pond system and landspread about every 5 years. Approximately 2.71 million gallons of sludge was removed from the pond system and landspread on Department approved sites in 2020. Sludge was also removed in 2016. Sanitary waste is segregated and treated in a septic system. There were no operational changes during the last permit term. Proposed changes for the upcoming permit term are as follows: 1) Addition of schedules that require an update to the land treatment and land application management plans for the absorption pond and landspreading outfalls, 2) Addition of a _________ _____ _________ ____ __________ ____________ __________ ____ age of the absorption ponds, 3) A change in the name/numbering ________________________________________________________________ pH sample frequency was increased at the land treatment outfall, 5) Monitoring for total ammonia nitrogen and total organic nitrogen has been added at the land treatment outfall 001, and 6) monitoring for COD has been removed as a requirement at the groundwater monitoring wells.
