To the editor,
If you have not checked out the current exhibit at River Falls City Hall, put this one on your priority list. The Maplethorpe exhibit is showing on both floors at the River Falls Municipal building and gallery through March of this year.
Cheryl Maplethorpe again demonstrates that local artists set the bar very high when it comes to art. Done in colorful oil paint the exhibit begs the onlooker to get involved. Do the labyrinth, take another look at the arms, and don’t forget to check out her long angle in your face rooster. The question about the Maplethorpe exhibit is: Can this be what Cheryl Maplethorpe sees when she sits down and uses a paint brush or is she challenging us to think a little harder, look a little longer? The exhibit is downright enjoyable. Have fun. Take your kids or grandkids. Give it some time.
