Alan Tuchtenhagen of the River Falls School Board has joined the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Association of School Boards. Tuchtenhagen will represent 33 school districts in west-central Wisconsin, which includes the Eau Claire area.
In his role as the WASB Region 4 director, Tuchtenhagen will serve as an advocate for school districts in his region and across the state.
John Ashley, executive director of the WASB, welcomed Tuchtenhagen to the board.
“His fresh perspective will be a valuable addition,” Ashley said. “We look forward to having Alan join us and share his knowledge on public school leadership.” Tuchtenhagen has served on the River Falls School Board since 2008. He was elected to the WASB Board of Directors in October by school board members from his region, and he joined the board officially on Jan. 19, during the State Education Convention.
His career has spanned more than 45 years at public and private centers of higher learning, including as associate vice chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and for the past 10 years as the Director of the Center for Leadership Studies at Augsburg University.
He is a consensus builder who is proud of his board’s ability to work together constructively even when they disagree.
The Wisconsin Association of School Boards is a nonprofit association that provides information and services to Wisconsin school boards in the areas of school law and policymaking, legislation and leadership development.
