Village plans fall election at fairground building

The Village of Ellsworth has had a very busy week, with the 2020 Partisan Primary held Tuesday at the Village Hall after the printing of this publication.

Starting August 24th, Main St. in Ellsworth is going to look a little bit different. Portions of Main St. will be closed, starting with the 100 block of W. Main St. near McDonald’s, and going all the way to portions of Main St. adjacent to the Freedom Value Center gas station. A color map is available to see on the Village’s Facebook page.

The closings are part of the Village’s water valve replacement program, approved by the village board last month.

The Village is waiting for approval to hold November’s election at the Seyforth Building on the Pierce County Fairgrounds.

“We are taking a lot of safeguards. At the last Village Board meeting, they approved for the general election to be held at the Seyforth Building,” Village Administrator Nicole Stewart said. “If that gets approved, it will allow us to host a safer election and manage a crowd more safely. It will be easier to maintain social distancing, there are hand washing stations there and we will be able to utilize space better.”
