RIVER FALLS – The River Falls Rotary Club announced recently that Grow to Share would be the recipient of their $10,000 community grant. The grant will be used to support Grow to Share’s mission to facilitate a volunteer-based collaborative garden, promote experiential learning, foster healthy community and share the harvest.
They strive to give everyone access to fresh, locally grown food. They grow food in multiple community plots tended by volunteers and donate to food pantries, shelters, and low-income housing throughout the area. Education, community friendships, and the opportunity to grow is a wonderful by-product that comes from the garden as well. For more information on this wonderful local non-profit, visit: www.growtoshare.org.
The River Falls Rotary Club put out a request for proposals and received 14 applicants for the Community Grant. They then narrowed it down to the top two finalists: Grow to Share and the River Falls Baseball Council, who were each asked to give a presentation at a Rotary Club meeting. Then the Rotary membership voted Grow to Share as the winner of the $10,000. The mission of the River Falls Rotary Club is enhancing opportunities for youth, creating a better world for all.
