RIVER FALLS – Internationally acclaimed artist Caledonia Curry, known professionally as Swoon, will visit the University of Wisconsin-River Falls as the fall 2026 Wyman Visiting Professor in Art. Swoon will deliver a free public lecture Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 5-7 p.m. in 222 North Hall, 410 S. Third St., River Falls.
As the visiting guest artist, Curry will be in residence on campus Nov. 9-12. She will present a workshop titled “The Rudiments of Street Art: Block Print, Stencil, Cut Paper and Paste” and collaborate with UWRF students through a working studio experience to create a collaged sculpture in the Kleinpell Fine Arts gallery.
Born in New London, Conn., and raised in Daytona Beach, Fla., Curry earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute in New York and now lives and works in Brooklyn. She is widely recognized as one of the first woman street artists to achieve international recognition, though her work extends far beyond the street art genre. As a classically trained printmaker, she has developed innovative approaches to large-scale relief printing, screen printing and papercutting.
For more information, call the UWRF Art Department at 715-425-3777 or visit the Wyman Visiting Professor webpage.
