ELLSWORTH – An 86-year-old Ellsworth man was arrested for OWI after driving his vehicle into a bar wall Thursday, April 13.
Max E. McDonnell was cited $937.50 for OWI-first after driving his 2002 Ford truck through the back wall of the Thirsty Badger (324 W. Main St., Ellsworth) at 8:57 p.m. No one was hurt in the crash, though significant structural damage occurred.
McDonnell admitted to police he had been drinking and agreed to perform field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to Pierce County Jail, where he was later released to a sober person. He is scheduled to appear in Pierce County Traffic Court at 9 a.m. June 19.
A Facebook post by Thirsty Badger staff indicates the bar will be closed until further notice while repairs are made.
