ELLSWORTH – More than 30 confirmation youth between English Lutheran Church, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, and Eidsvold-Svea Lutheran Parish will be gathering food from the community in the next few weeks to help supply Thanksgiving baskets that English Lutheran Church congregation will put together for families in need in the Ellsworth area.

In recent years, this tradition has been growing, and in 2025, 53 households received boxes full of canned goods and staples as well as frozen turkeys and all the items needed for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, including pumpkin pie.

The youth will go out to Ellsworth neighborhoods with their adult confirmation guides on Wednesday, Nov. 11, to distribute flyers inviting the community to prepare items to be picked up the following Wednesday, Nov. 18.

“Baskets” will be prepared and distributed by volunteers the weekend before Thanksgiving, to families who have been referred to the church. Anyone who would like to be involved in this project is welcome to bring items to English Lutheran Church, 229 W. Main St., until Wednesday Nov. 18. We hope this ministry provides food resources and a happy holiday to struggling families in our community.

Call the church office at 715-273-4617 with any questions.
