ELLSWORTH — What is the difference between empathy and compassion—and why does it matter? The Ellsworth Public Library invites the community to a free seminar with Emily Jacobson, LAc, owner and director of Healing Roots Wellness Center, on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the Ellsworth Public Library Meeting Room.

During “Empathy vs. Compassion,” Jacobson will explore how these two powerful qualities shape our relationships, communication, and overall well-being. Participants will discover practical ways to care for others while maintaining healthy boundaries and avoiding burnout.

Jacobson’s interest in wellness began at a young age. She trained at St. Croix Center for the Healing Arts massage school in 2000 and launched her first business, Exceptional Relief Massage, in 2002. After nine successful years, she went on to earn a Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2016 and opened To The Point Acupuncture and Tai Chi.

Today, at Healing Roots Wellness Center, Jacobson focuses on pain management, women’s health, and mental and emotional well-being. She creates a safe and supportive environment and integrates massage, acupuncture, and other holistic therapies to address the mind, body, and spirit.

Outside of her work, Jacobson enjoys hiking, cycling, kayaking, teaching tai chi, and spending time with her husband and dogs.

The seminar is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Registration is required. To reserve a seat, stop by the Ellsworth Public Library or call 715-273-3209.
