Traci Ann Zaborowski, 55, Hager City, was charged Jan. 30 with a felony count of theft of a schedule 1 or II controlled substance, in Dakota County, Minn. Circuit Court.
According to the criminal complaint, officers from the West St. Paul Police Department received a report of stolen medication from an assisted living facility on Aug. 25, 2023. One oxycodone card containing 30 10 mg pills was missing. At 8 a.m. that morning, 20 cards containing the pills were present. Zaborowski was working as a nurse and marked on records that she had taken one card, leaving 19 in the safe. However, at the end of the shift, there were only 18 cards present.
Zaborowski had allegedly left her shift early and was the only nurse to access the medication storage cabinet on that floor that day. The Minnesota Department of Health conducted an investigation and substantiated claims that the pills were taken by Zaborowski.
If convicted she faces a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in jail and could be fined up to $20,000.
