Letter to the editor: Republicans can't govern

Posted

To the editor,

In response to a recent letter to the editor from Stephanie Brown of River Falls, where she implies that all Democrats are in favor of Hamas, and that Congressman Van Orden is a figure of virtue. I feel a response is necessary.

Ms. Brown has a past record of misleading facts and innuendo about her side of things. The fact of the matter is Van Orden is a member of the majority party in Congress for the past year. This congress has been the least productive, most dysfunctional, and quite frankly, off the wall Congress in recent history. They can't elect a speaker, can't pass a budget, are led by eight wacko Congress people who control the body. This Congress has come close several times to shutting down the entire US government. Van Orden is a major player on these issues.

This coming January, the current budget resolution will expire. Do we really want to have federal employees, our armed forces, and the federal government shut down and forced to work without pay because the Republican party can't function as a body?? Not to mention foreign policy, where they have threatened to cut funding to the Ukrainians against the Russian invasion of their country. Here is a fact; the Ukrainian forces have destroyed half of the Russian army with only 5% of our total defense budget invested. Some people would call that a good deal.
